Anyone know about PANCREATIC Enzyme ie: Ultrase?
« on: October 25, 2007, 05:43:33 pm »
Hello

I started taking this to combat major bloating I get whenever I eat a meal. I was wondering if there is any long term damage which taking this enzyme might do to my digestion or health of my Pancrease. I mean I could not take it and just wait for the bloating to go down which it does eventually,,, but taking this has made my digestion so much better, but just worried about the long term effect of this med.

Thanks

hi,
I take Creon 25000 with most meals, it's similar.  I have pancreatitis which means I occasionally don't produce enough digestive fluid.  As far as I know there are no serious problems with taking pancreatic enzyme suppliments although taking large doses can cause increased uric acid in the blood. Check it out with your doctor though.  My main side effect from takin Creon was rapid wieght gain, which I wanted as I'd lost a lot of weight.

how did you end up developing pancreatitis? was it due to the meds? or did you always have it?

and do you know why Creon caused you to rapidly gain weight?

Thanks
