OK! Who has seen FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC?  see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093036/
with  Louise Fletcher ...  Grandmother - Olivia Foxworth

Victoria Tennant ...  Mother - Corrine Dollanganger

        Kristy Swanson ...  Cathy Dollanganger

It's a 'fun' movie with an edge to it.

Off to see Kathy Griffin at Madison Square Garden tonight!!! YAY! It's a Christmas present to us (John and me) and with all going on, we almost forgot till the other day that we had the tickets. I'll post tomorrow about her show - and "My Life On The D List" starts sometime this summer (June?).

I've seen Flowers in the attic at least a dozen if not more times.

Enjoy your Kathy!

Has anyone seen The Attack of the Killer Tomatos?  It was George Clooney's first film.   I used to rent it and the Toxic Zoombie for slow rainy days.   ;D Have the best day

Truly mindless movies that I can put on, not really pay attention to, but still enjoy them: Rush Hour (any of the 3), the movies with Danny Glover and Mel Gibson (any of them, too), and any Die Hard movie.  Now, if I'm in desperate need of a good cry and pity party, I watch "Evita" followed immediately by "Braveheart", which, in my never-humble opionion, is the best movie ever made.

My Favorite mindless movie of all time STILL has to be Airplane!

I can probably recite half the dialogue, but it never fails to crack me up.  You can't help but laugh at Leslie Nielsen, y'know?

They're all fun...I didn't know George was in ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES!!!

And Imjustagirl..."Timmy, have you ever been in a men's locker room before?"
"That's all right stewardess. I speak jive."

For pure tear jerkers (when I want to let it all hang out how about PAY IT FORWARD or STEEL MAGNOLIAS?

OH! AND KATHY GRIFFEN WAS WONDERFUL!!!
She was onstage for two hours (my butt was asleep as the WAMU theatre at Madison Square packs 'em in!) and covered everything from Britney, to Babwa (Walters), Jerry Seinfeld to Steven Spielberg and *GASP*, she 'slept' with Liza (with a 'Z") Minelli when they were doing shows in tandem in Canada. My stomach still hurts! We got home at midnight and for one of those rare times, I was late taking my meds but it was worth it!

Hey Paul, I'm glad you had a good time seeing Kathy Griffin.  I've never seen an act of hers.

Oh, I really didn't like Pay it Forward, but Steel Magnolias was pretty good.  I can't think of any movie that makes me cry right now.  I think I'm becoming jaded.
Peace~

I know we're off the subject of mindless movies now, but you have to try and watch My Life On The D List with Kathy. Season 4 starts this summer (June?) and there will be footage of her NYC concert in her show unless they make a special out of it. NO ONE is safe from her!

Yeah, I think those two movies are the only two that make me bawl...and I'm a big, hairy, rough and tough guy (or I look like one!)...I've gotten jaded a bit myself but every now and then when I know I will be alone and a good bawl will do me good, out come PAY IT FORWARD or STEEL MAGNOLIAS!

And get to bed soon!!! LOL

Paul, on what station will My Life on..... be on?  HBO?  I have HBO, for reasons of watching The Wire, and if that will be on in June, that will give me a reason to keep it when The Wire is done.  Of course, Bill Maher is worth the cost of HBO.

Betty;

It's on Bravo (hope you get it) and per her site http://kathygriffin.net/index.php it's coming back for ten episodes (the first three seasons were six) this summer, probably in June. She's irreverent and a reformed Catholic...be forewarned!!! LOL

Uhm...it's almost midnight - I really should be in bed! <EG>

OOOHHHH Kathy Griffen is my hero! I saw her in DC back in 2006. I almost pee'd myself in the theater I was laughing so hard. I have several of her specials on my IPOD to listen in the car while driving.

Movies I love to watch over and over...

1. Anything by Tim Burton, especially his new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Sleepy Hollow
2. The old Disney movies...1994 and back (The Jungle Book, Snow White, The Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, etc.) ...this new crap is just crap. Plus since I worked there  I can sign any Disney autograph you want. And I just found the picture I took of me dressed in the trumpeter costume (sans the chucky doll head) doing Alice in Wonderland up the butt:) )
3. Its been said before but..Blazing Saddles always should be around...Howard Johnson would say so
4. Cannonball Run is a real favorite
5. I watched The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas the other day...so good to see a classic
6. DOGMA...love that movie and any of Kevin Smith's films...watched Clerks II again tonight...ahh Kinky Kelly and Stud...only a great movie would have them in it
7. The Abyss....what a wicked cool fun movie
8. The Life Aquatic .... clever, funny, entertaining, and for you straight guys, a college girl running topless
9. Both of the Adams Family movies....Raul Julia was awesome and when Wednesday burns the camp to the ground...well you can't help but be in love.
10.The Muppet Movie and the Muppets Take Manhattan...classics :)

Will think of more later!

Welcome to the mindless movie forum sacinsc!

Yep..you caught me! When I left Madison Square the other night, I didn't realize it till I looked won and suddenly felt cold in my crotch. I was all wet. Kidding!

Great movies you list! Some I've never heard of so I will have to check them out!

Another cat lover...great! We have two roange tabbies (Pooh and Piglet - and some idiots comment that Piglet is NOT a name for a cat but it fits him! He was the runt!).

I'll add HISTORY OF THE WORLD, PART 1, SPACEBALLS, and WAR OF THE WORDS (2005?) to the mix!

Betty, did you get any sleep last night???

Hugs,
Paul

Paul, I went to bed around midnight, got up at 6:30 this morning and took a couple hours nap at 9:30.  I need to get back into some kind of routine.  I just can't sleep at night.

When you're blue, what's your favorite movie to just 'veg' out to and distract yourself?
To name a few of mine:
1) The Brady Bunch Movie
2) Priscilla, Queen of The Desert
3) To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar

And so much more but you're all up!

Paul

These are my two favorite vegout/mindless movies:
1) Animal House
2) Dazed and Confused
"Dog is my co-pilot".

Yeah Paul,

Jack Nicholson is the last actor listed in the credits.  He had two lines as the mortician at the dentist office after Sidney killed the dentist. Have the best day

Okay, this might not be considered a 'movie' because it was a TV series, but as it is out on DVD, I would say all the Sex in the City episodes.

And if they have to be mindless, than just about any comedy.

Ha....funny you should mention that one.  I just rewatched the musical version the other night.  That one might go on my list of good mindless movies.

Galaxy Quest is another.  Also like Back To School (old Rodney Dangerfield with Sam Kineson in it and a young Robert Downey Jr.)

Oh- and personally, I love to beg out to "Clue" with Tim Curry.  And "Waiting for Guffman" is a scream.

Mindless movies huh? I must admit I do own Scarface, To Wong Foo, Godfather Part 1 and 2, The Craft, and Goodfellas. I consider Godfather and Goodfellas to be gangster classics along with King of New York. What is wrong with you people? I was a loyal follower of the Sopranos and like millions was pissed off with the last episode. I feel I wasted over 8 years of my life for a fucked up ending. I would like to kill the creator, David Chase myself. Scarface is considered a classic in my hood and wished there was a way they could've made a Part 2 but everybody got killed.

I will admit The Craft was kind of mindless and I own the boy version too or in other words, The Covenant. I guess I am a sucker for movies with a Wiccan theme. I have watched Charmed reruns I don't know how many times. And I still say it was one of the closest things to following the Wiccan path yet minus the demons and such. I didn't care for the ending to it though.

A mindless movie to me and I own it is Half Baked with Dave Chappelle. But how can you be a weedhead and not own it. Another mindless movie to me was CB4 with Chris Rock and Pootie Tang.
