Title: Boyfriend took double dose of med for 2 weeks
Post by: rrsgirl on June 05, 2012, 02:19:03 pm
I haven't posted on here for awhile because things have gone suprizingly well for the last year. Anyway, my boyfriend had been on Reyataz, truvada and norvir for 2 years since he was diagnosed in April 2010. His dr. retired last fall, and he's been seeing a new dr since Oct. She didn't like his numbers and felt like his meds weren't working that well anymore so she changed his meds to Epzicom and Issentress. Heres the problem..he started taking the new meds on May 22. The bottles both said to take 1 pill twice a day..so he was. Yesterday he realized that the epzicom bottle only had 3 pills left.  Here the dr. made a mistake and he was only supposed to be taking the epzicom ONCE a day. Everything I've read on line says that epzicom is only to be taken once a day and here for 2 weeks hes been taking it twice! The dr. said he should be alright, but I'm worried! What could be the possible  affects from this?

Aside from enhanced side effects he should be fine. I hope the doctor gave him enough meds to finish the month however.

I think this is a big  inexcusable mistake on the part of the doctor. The doctor mismarked the correct dose to take.

I would be demanding all the blood tests be done immediately, Viral load, cd4,and all blood chemistry, kidney tests.  That's what I would be demanding.

I have taken double doses of Epzicom before ( by mistake), and it always screwed me up.

Also, I would save those mismarked bottles.
