Thanks Terry,

well done! Genvoya at that price is tempting... I wonder if the supposed benefits are worth the higher price compared to Edurant+Ricovir EM

I wonder why Descovy is not listed there.

Descovy is TIVICAY (which is listed) and Tenofovir alafenamide 25mg + Emtricitabine 200mg (not listed). They don't have it?

I saw this listed on a few indian websites that have their supplies from various pharma indian companies (like CIPLA and so on) and much cheaper (TIVICAY) than here. They have 2 bottles listed: generic Tivicay and generic Descovy.

I wonder where the above organisation (I assume it's Thai RC) is getting all the meds from. Isn't it from India as well?

I also am surprised that Descovy is not there as Genvoya contains it so therefor it must have been approved by the Thai FDA. I am due a visit to my ID specialist the first week in June and shall certainly be making enquiries. I would like to upgrade my Truvada if it is available.

Actually Gilead did not apply to have Descovy listed with the Thai FDA.  No application so no approval.

Thanks for posting this. Adamslove used to post this, not sure what happened btw ThaiRedCross and Adamslove, but seems like they no longer have close relationship, at least that was the case in Nov 2018.

Few questions:

1. I cant see the price of Stribild?
2. Is Genvoya finally available at TRC?
3. Would love to switch from Genvoya to Rilpivirine + Dolutegravir but the price of D seems steep, anyone knows when their bloody patent is expiring?

Hi,
1. If it is not in the list i wrote, then it was not on their price-list. You can write/call them and ask to be certain.
2. If you search the list i wrote, you can see it. "Tenofovir 10+Emtricitabine 200+Elvitegravir 150+ Cobistat (Genvoya) =THB 2,580/bottle (30 tablets)"
3. no idea...

oh my, how can it be? 80 USD for a month supply of Genvoya whereas it is at thousands in the west. I am worried if there is an influx of medical tourist to BKK, TRCARC may prohibit foreigners purchasing from their pharmacy due to supply issues for the locals. Lets hope it doesn't get there.

@terrymoore - Thank you so much for sharing the TRC price list. I was relieved to find Genvoya on their list. By comparison, PULSE CLINIC in Bangkok just quoted me  5,900THB ($191USD) for 30 tablets today.  Either way, it is reassuring for me to know that it is available.

Indeed Pulse clinic is more expensive than the Thai Red Cross Anonymous Clinic. Note that Pulse is a good option of you want a semi-anonymous and quick experience. BTW the two orgs are well coordinated. FYI

Pulse Clinic has Generic Descovy now.  I purchased 2 bottles for 5300 baht plus 500 for shiping in Thailand.  It is from India called Tafero-EM made under liscense by Hetero.
So about $90 USD per bottle of 30.  I sent them all my lab tests, and my script from my Doctor.  They like payment by Transferwise.  Took about 1 week from order to receipt of meds (in Thailand) was shipped by Kerry.

Criminal ripoff thanks to lobbying creating a protected market.

I can personally confirm The Red Cross now accepts and dispenses a years worh of medication with a valid prescription - see the thread about Red Cross prescription further down.

Took me 15 minutes from walking in the door at TRC to walking out with 12x bottles of generic Atripla (Teevir) , grand total 12,600 bht = $412 for the years supply.

Yes it is available, I have seen it on previous price lists from the Thai Red Cross. Sorry but I do not have a copy or link to the list.

I personally take a two pill version of it, Kivexa and Dolutegravir. From memory it was a fair bit more expensive, hence my doctor recommended the chaper two pill version.

AH! Yes... I read about the availability of Triumeq generics like what you're taking. I was concerned about the efficacy of the generics over the co-formulated Triumeq. I found one study performed with 97 participants that ultimately learned that the generics are effective at suppressing the VL count I believe under 400 and lower.

24 week study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30305176/
at 48 weeks: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31272264/

Do you find the generics to be as effective in suppressing your VL?
How long have you been taking the generics?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

True generic versions of branded meds have the same active ingredients as shown to work in the branded version and studies. Take plenty of other meds that are generic versions of branded drugs where the patent has expired.

I have been taking generics in Thailand for the last 10 years with good result.
I have been poz and on meds for 26 years, cd4 around 1000 since long.
My meds come from GPO Thai Government Pharmaceutical Organization before also Mylan.
Sometimes I order through Glove (https://gloveclinic.com/), my hiv doctor works there
(he also works in a few of the big hospitals) and they ship. It is more expensive there but I am on an old combo (nevirapine/lamivudine) and one of the two has been out of stock at Anonymous Clinic for a long while. But in stock at Glove, go figure.

I have nothing to compare them to as I never took Triumeq from the manufacturer. I have had two blips on Kivexa and Dolutegravir according to my official hospital tests. Each time I followed these tests up with tests at an independent clinic, each time I was U/D. The Dr thinks it is the hospital lab doing something different than before. I have been on this regime just over a year.

I have no issues with generics from reputable sources. I took a form of generic Truvada from Thailand and had no issues.

Thank you so much for your input. Until I started reading this thread, I didn't even know generics were available for my Triumeq. I made sense that authentic generics should be just as effective if the active ingredients are the same as in the patented medicine, but then I saw search results for studies about them. This made me question. I feel more confident going forward. thank you!

You're welcome.
Another alternative to Anonymous Clinic is the PULSE group of clinics, although I think they are expensive.
The route taken by most is to get a prescription and buy the meds at Anonymous. Last time they also asked for a VL result not older than 2 years.

Yes. You get medication from all these different places. When you move, take recent medical tests with you to help get started. If you can show recent blood lab results, you might avoid some costs and speed things up. If you’re moving there to work, you’ll probably want to establish a primary care doctor for regular maintenance. Some of the other guys on here know more about that than I do. I lived in Thailand 2011-2012 and will move back. But I’m not living there now.

Thanks Fish Grass for your information. So, is it possible if the regular doctor is the same doctor in the clinic? Let's say, I got my prescribtion from Thai Red Cross doctor and I consider that doctor as my primary care doctor to monitor my health status. Because in my home country, it works that way. I am still processing to contact some of the clinic as well.

Yes - Thai Red Cross open to anyone (I used to go there) - as is Pribta Clinic which i use now.
Pribta clinic is in Chamchuri Sqaure connected to Sam Yan MRT so easy to get to

https://pribta-tangerine.com/en/pribta-home-en/

Just changed over to 'generic' or 2 pill equivalent of Dovato whiich is 50mg Dolutegravir & 300mg 3TC - for refererence they charge 345bht per 30pill bottle of 3TC & 975bht per 30 for the Dolutegravir.
Pribta can also deliver to you to save another trip - use Thai Post EMS, all my medication arrived (tracked) after a couple days.

They'll have Doctors available too which would be even easier.

Hi y'all - I'm newly diagnosed and just started Biktarvy.

I love Thailand and want to come back and spend some time there. Is it possible to get Biktarvy or it's equivalent?  What are the current prices for meds there?

Thank you!
