Oral Encounter?
« on: July 02, 2024, 04:42:27 pm »
Hi,
Thank you for all the good information on here. I’ve read several of your replies to similar questions but I’ll go ahead and ask mine: 18 days ago I gave oral to a random guy. There was lots of saliva and maybe a little precum, not sure. He did not ejaculate in my mouth. I did not have any sores or bleeding. The next night I woke up with a night sweat and have had a mild sore throat for the last week or so. Do you think I have any reason to be concerned? Basically feel fine otherwise. Would the night sweat be connected to any thing? Seems too quick and I know I’m probably overthinking things. Any advice or thoughts? Thanks.

Thank you for all the good information on here.

You're welcome.

I read your post three times and what jumps to mind is that I flushed the toilet this morning and then it started to rain. Therefore, my flushing the toilet must have caused it to rain outside.  ;)

I know that this is faulty but you get what I mean.

Yeah, not only that but it's not HIV-specific and most people have no initial symptoms. Even if you had had a real HIV risk like condomless intercourse, whatever happens the next day has nothing to do with HIV, far too soon after that event.

Moving on...

Short answer, it's not an HIV risk.

Giving a blowjob, the mouth generally lacks a route for HIV to infect also there are barriers such as saliva that neutralizes HIV by damaging the receptors needed to infect human cells. Giving a blowjob is such a minute HIV risk that it doesn't warrant HIV concern or testing outside of routine.

Giving a blowjob has plenty of risk for other STIs, but no need to panic, if you are unwell see your healthcare provider, HIV isn't the concern from this encounter.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Continue to use PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV and get vaccinated against HPV, Hepatitis A & B.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please get tested routinely, ideally every three months as a PrEP user.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim
