THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU so much everyone, and thanks Teresa for posting my birthday thread.

I have had a wonderful week-long birthday celebration.  Two parties, 3 cakes, and been taken out to dinner so many times that if I weren't naturally bean-pole skinny, I'd be big as a house!   I've received lots of gifts, 20 cards, and lots of phone calls, including a special one from New Zealand!   How wonderful is it to have friends all over the globe?

You know, I have always been fascinated by dolphins.  They are magnificent creatures, beautiful and intelligent.   Sailors consider them a sign a good luck.   We do well to remember dolphins; when one ails, the others come and nudge him along to keep him moving gently through the waters, because a dolphin must continue to move in order to keep breathing.   You are all my dolphins...you keep me going when I need a 'nudge' now and then.   Thank you so much for being there, I love all of you.

My guy is here (still in bed) and I haven't opened his gifts yet; we are going out to dinner (again!) tonight....so the celebration continues.    I will print this thread out and save it, for when I need a 'pick-me-up'.   Your kind words and loving messages have helped to make my 50th a birthday to remember.

Edited to add:   I received a feather bed mattress topper and a new set of sheets and towels from the Biltmore House collection of linens....(yes he was being practical, but it was exactly what I asked for).   I also got the funniest looking little red bear, who is kind of bald with this stringy funny hair....he makes me laugh.

Oh and Fang got super jealous this weekend; she even HISSED at him !

Dearest Alan,
I am so glad you had a nice birthday. It is nice to see good things do indeed happen to good people. You are always so kind. I just thought I'd say hello, and tell you how much i appreciate your posts.
 I think we were probably infected the same time, and I just noticed that we are the same age! I'll be 50 in June.
Alan, this is quit the milestone!! I think you should be very proud. This is quit an accomplishment! So how does it feel to be 50? I'm sure it's fantastic!
