Truvada and Isentres Co Pay Cards Renewable??
« on: December 25, 2014, 08:26:35 pm »
So it marks a year since I started meds and it's time to gets new cards, but can I? The information on the websites says the whole good for 12 fills, but are they renewable? The website almost makes it seem like it's a one time coupon for everyone. I'm really scared. I obviously have insurance, but I don't want to have to pay co pays.

You have a unique number assigned to you on your copay cards.  The amount typically resets at the beginning of the year.  (I take Stribild and recently called about getting reimbursed for 2013 and 2014 copays for my partner's mail order prescription.). The lady at the Gilead number told me it automatically resets January 1.

If you are really concerned, I'd call the number on the cards during business hours and ask for specifics.  You'll be fully informed and know exactly how your copay assistance works, straight from the horse's mouth. :)

Best,

When I was doing case management, I would have to renew my client's cards every year.  If I remember right, the drug companies would ask for proof of income.  I can't recall if they asked for anything else.

I would definitely call before the expiration so you're not scrambling, though it's pretty close to the new year.

I think we are mixing apples and oranges.  I agree that copay assistance is not income based and does not need to be renewed; however, there are patient assistance programs for people without insurance or who are underinsured, and those are income based and subject to periodic review.

Single payer healthcare would solve all of this confusion.....
