Title: Hockey season is on the way!
Post by: 404error on September 20, 2007, 04:03:15 pm
I have to say I am plenty stoked that the 2007-2008 season is nearly upon us.  82 games from now the Vancouver Canucks will be entering the playoff race in the quest for Lord Stanley's Cup.  It's been 4 long months since my team was ousted from the playoffs and they look poised to rise to the top of the division and make another run this year.  Now I don't have to watch; baseball, American football or golf anymore as filler.  I'll definitely keep following UEFA Champions League but that's it.  Hockey and Soccer all the way!  GO CANUCKS GO!!!

I don't think they even show hockey on real TV. We don't even use it as filler...do you ladies still play Canadian Football? ;D

They don't show it on American TV which I have to say probably isn't a bad idea considering the brilliant ideas of those at FOX Sports who felt putting a blue dot with tracers on the puck would help those down south follow the game.

How can the Americans prefer NASCAR to the NHL?!?!?!  Driving straight and turning left for hours at a time loses it's thrill after about 2 laps...  simple minds I suppose...  ;)

Apparently Hockey is big in Charlotte - they only have a farm team but the arena is right in walking distance (as is the Panthers and the Bobcats...Charlotte is a cool sports town in general) but they appear to be very popular here.  I just met one of Jeromy's friends last night and they part of they info she wanted to know about me is if I was a hockey fan.

Well, the 'Canes won the cup a couple of years back so I'm sure that helped drum up some interest in a non traditional hockey market.  I think it's the greatest sport on earth, the fastest game played on two feet...  I'd love to live in a southern US city where hockey tickets are undoubtably cheap and plentiful, to be so lucky...
