I am sick and tired of being sick and tired
« on: February 18, 2007, 02:30:30 pm »
I have been battling the flu since Jan 30th, & I'm not over it yet. Been having very bad migrane headaches, throwing up & fevers of 100+ start around 2 PM.  & my hiv meds aren't workig anymore & my doc says to me there is nothing else he can prescribe me.  I am frustrated by this recent CSI issue. Everyone here should have read the tems of service BEFORE they registered at this site, I did & I understood the terms. I don't see why this has sudenly become such a big issue. I thnk the whole point of this CSI thing was to raise the membership counts & try to expose more HIV+ people to what is offered here.

Right now I can't deal with being here on a daily basis anymore & will be taking a break for a while.

Take care,

Dan

Hi Dan,

I hear your frustration.  I had the flu, then a cold, then a sinus infection.  I still feel pretty fatigued, but I am trying to it back together (actually started to go to the gym).

I can't help you with your meds. but I know a there are others on here who can.  That's a huge stressful hurdle of stress.

Take your time to heal and focus on what is important and healthy for you.  There will always be disagreements, but remember behind this are a lot of wonderful, caring people.

Luv and support,
Drew

Are you folks catching the flu even though you had your yearly flu shot?

Anyway, Dan hope you feel better soon and rejoin us.

philly267, what we got inoculated for this year wasn't the strain that started going around. I just avoid large congregations of people and hope I don't come down with it. It does the number on people with a good immune system, let alone those that don't.

Everyone I am sorry for venting  liike I did. I am just so tired of being sick. I went to eat lunch & rushed home to take the meds that don't work anmyore & I threw up in the driveway. Now I don't have anything on my stomach to take my meds. Quess I will skip this dose.

I didn't mean to go on a tirade about the CSI thing. I understand some of your concerns about, but what is done is done & I don't think it can be changed until the storyline ends. We are all just going to have to deal with  for a while. I  have faith in Peter & believe what he has told us, why should we doubt him now?

Thanks,

Dan

I hope you have someone you can lean on during this period. Safe to assume you're staying in close touch with you doc? Especially, during this series of fevers, vomiting and dose-skipping.

Yeah, that's what I suspected and why I asked.  Nothing worse than the flu, though I'm starting to think I may be getting bronchitis right now.  The cough has begun!  I get this yearly, sometimes twice.  It's such a joy.

Yeah, my numbers are good now so I'm wondering if I can deal with it on my own or if I should call my doctor on Tuesday.  Because I'm Miss Pro-Active I'm sure I'll pick up the phone, definitely if it progresses more.  It's been mild all week long... sure I picked it up in NYC.  That place is just crawling with bacteria due to the population density.

I've got some left over medications that I can dive into in a heartbeat if I need to.  It's really not that bad yet, but I know how it begins slowly and builds up because I've been getting it since even before I had HIV.  I was always the "sickly child" in the family, and my brother the Aryan Jock.

Dan,
You are so very lucky to have Herman. I know how you fell being sick for so long.

I have had the runs for 7 straight days now, and crapped the bed last night. I was so weak and run down, I wanted to scream.

But we must keep going and keep the faith. What else can you do?

Hang in there  Dan. Better days ahead.

Danny boy, hang in there now.

I have been struggling to keep going myself lately, after my rectum surgery and  a heavy bronchitis.
And having to work 14 hours daily again. That part will be over in exactly 10 days.....
So, there is little more I can do for you.then talk to you...

You will be getting that so needed third drug that my doctor has hammered on, since you took that genotype test with her.
I hope your doctor let's go of his Ego and starts treating you full power. I hate to see you struggle when there is salvage right in front of you.

This is a place to vent, so please, don't worry about that.

Hey Dan.  I agree that when you are tired or, as in your case, not feeling well and frustrated with meds. not working, the forums can start to look drab or even annoying.  I wish you a speedy recovery and posts to come back to which remind all of us why we are here.  Best, Win

I think Thomas has a wonderful idea.  Chicken noodle soup.  A can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup can do wonders.  Two cans even better.  Add toast or a grilled cheese and, hopefully,  you'll be feeling a little better.

You have enough to stress out over so, Danny, don't even give the CSI shit a second thought.  It's not worth it.  At the end of the day, we'll all still come back and one way or another give each other the support we need.

Thank you all for your kind responses. I know I don't have it as bad as some of our other forum members but I am frustrated especially with my HIV med situation & the flu has really worn me down over the last 4 weeks.  At the end of January I weighed 166 lbs, I now weigh 140. My viral load is on the rise & my tcells are dropping. My doc said that would be normal after the flu . Plus with the HIV med doses I have missed because I just didn't feel eating much (& still don't) are contributing to that situation.

I am not leaving the forums, just taking a break. I spend too much time here and get wrapped up in whats going on . Sometimes it's good to be here so much. It takes my mind off my own personal health issues but at the same time it drags me down.

I posted this thread because I need some encouragement. I received that today.

I dread going to bed because I know the nightsweats are going to come & it is bothersome to know that during the middle of the night I will have to change the sheets at least twice.

Thanks for listening.

Dan

Dan, I don't miss a dose even if I don't feel like eating. I take them anyway. I've never had a problem with doing it that way. I know it may have something to do with the absorption rate, but that's better than not taking them. That's if you can keep them down since you are sick with the flu. I do hope you feel better soon.

That's funny, up here the news was saying that the vaccine was a pretty close match for the strain that emerged.  Wouldn't the vaccine be the same worldwide?

I'm so sorry you have been so sick sweetheart. I know I haven't heard from you much, but I thought it was because you were busy with work, and Hermie. Silly me.
I know it's no fun being sick, but if it had to be something, I'd rather it be a flu, than the nasty Norovirus that has been going around  here like wildfire.
You know it takes us much longer to recover from these things, especially since you have been in a weakened state with the new meds.
My only best asvice, is to make absolutely certain you keep yourself hydrated. Have you been trying any of the nutritional boosters? Ensure, Sustacal, you know.....
I have found that keeping a small personal fan on you at night does help dissipate the night sweats a little more efficiently. Even in the winter time.
I'll keep you in my thoughts. Hope you feel better baby. :-*

I have an appointment with my new general practitioner Wednesday afternoon for the worst headache I ever had in my life since last Friday. It's so bad I am light sensitive, sound sensitive the pain is behind my left ear. I hope the doc orders an M.R.I. of my head. I can't look at the computer screen very long  so I am trying to keep this brief.
