I think its true.. saw it on the national news.. He was my favorite comedian ever.. I will miss him.. RIP

Sadly, no hoax.  The story is now breaking on legitimate newswire services.  Preliminary information is "suicide." Apparently, he suffered for years from depression.  Very sad.  May he rest in peace.

Depression is the cause of many more deaths, than anyone has yet to quantify.  I have simply known too many people, who suffered from depression and are now gone.

RIP Robin.  My deepest condolences to those who were closest to him.

Thank you, for sharing him with the world.

From what I am reading he had a history of substance abuse issues in the 80's, became sober, only for them to resurface a decade ago. Of course depression and substance abuse are often hand in hand so we will not know until the toxicology report if drugs were the cause.

In fact, as recent as last month he had returned to a rehab facility.

Very sad.  While his comedy was not always my taste, I couldn't help but like him.  He could get on my nerves with the same black, gay, preacher voice.  I actually liked him better in dramatic roles.  Mental health needs way more attention and funding.

I paused when I heard about Robin's death on the radio yesterday.  So sad.  I can imagine what his children, wife and other family members and friends are going through. 

I also understand that he struggled with drug addiction and depression.

His wife says he was diagnosed with Parkinson's. 

I have never seen as many posts on FB for the death of a celebrity, as I have for him.  It was literally every other posts there for the first few days and maybe every 10th post now.  It seems obvious many really liked and adored him.  I didn't see that with Michael Jackson.  I realize more are using mobile devices now, than they did in 2010, so perhaps that explains some of it. 

I have had a few friends discuss their depression for the first time openly.  I know we often discuss things for a while, and then it goes away.  Perhaps more will be more likely to discuss their depression.  I don't know why I should be surprised, because I have hidden my depression well.  But, I was surprised by some friends posting they suffer with depression.  It just goes to show you cannot always know who is depressed.  They may post fun pics out at bars or great vacation pics and you think their life is great.  Having depression does not always mean you cannot laugh and have fun.  And, of course, we know many put on their happy face, when that's not the case.

I was a little girl when I used to watch, (I am not sure if it was reruns), of Mork and Mindy in the early eighties.
He was an awesome actor and when I heard him speak he seemed a very nice person.

I've had several people approach me recently about depression, suicide and Robin Williams. His death seems to have struck a cord with some people, particular those who put on a brave face.
