Please assess my risks!
« on: March 04, 2017, 11:29:04 pm »
First, I just want to give a huge thanks for all the work you all do on here. It is a great help to many people.

Basically, I just want to run a few things by you that I am sort of nervous about. I have never had unprotected anal sex (I'm gay, 21 yrs old), but have engaged in other sexual activity.

My main concerns are: I have given/recieved blowjobs in the past, and swallowed the semen of at least one (big concern)

I have been rimmed by someone who had a nosebleed during the session. I was tested a few weeks after and it was a negative result but I am still wondering if that is a risk

I have been fingered by someone who had precum/cum on their fingers. This is perhaps my biggest concern.

Engaged in frotting.

A lot of these concern me because I am prone to fissures and may have had one st the time if the nosebleed and fingering incidents.

Do i have any reason to be worried about any of these incidents? With each person I asked them multiple times about their status and all said negative, but I just like to be sure. Thank you for your time!

Hi

Frotting, Fingering, rimming and receiving a Bj is not a HIV concern, there has simply never been a documented case of HIV transmission this way, you will not be the worlds first.

I have been fingered by someone who had precum/cum on their fingers. This is perhaps my biggest concern.

Next to it never has happened, HIV does not remain infectious outside the human body, once hiv finds itself exposed outside the body to air, small changes in temperature, pH / moisture levels all quickly damage the receptors rendering it unable to infect. Thus sexually HIV is transmitted inside the human body as in never leaving the confides like during unprotected intercourse

As for giving a BJ the virus is very fragile, and your mouth has dozens of protein and enzymes that damage the virus and render it unable to infect. There is no need to run test every time you give a blow job, just get tested the next time you are due for a regular checkup and fully expect a negative HIV result.

With each person I asked them multiple times about their status and all said negative

Look even if someone tested today all it means is they he was negative some 3 months ago due to the window period on testing being conclusive, so its a meaningless and pointless question. instead always presume the fact they are positive and not receiving treatment and protect yourself.

Look move on, stop worrying and don't forget to test at least yearly as routine for STI's including but not limited to HIV.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Thank you so much! So even with the nose bleeding incident there is no reason to worry? I was always concerned some of the blood ended up inside me. When I cleaned up it was pink not bright red but still I was worried. I did get tested about two weeks after the incident and it was negative. Also swallowing is not a concern either?  Sorry for the follow up question. Thank you again!

Asked and answered.

;) I read the first post and did take it in into account in my answers, it does not change the assessment.

Look you had no reason to run out and test in the first place and I would not recommend it over an incident that was not a risk to you.

If you ever do have a risk such as unprotected intercourse than keep in mind to test at 6 & 13 weeks, even with modern 4th gen or duo test;s that may detect early testing before 3 months can give you a good indication of your HIV status, but test at 3 months after the exposure to be considered HIV negative.

All in all you have no reason to worry so simply move on and stop worrying.

Do keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for easier to transmit STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs
