Do I have a reason to be concerned?
« on: September 20, 2017, 10:28:13 am »
Hello and thank you for all your good work.
I'm not going to discuss a few symptoms I had cause I know they are probably not related although similar to HIV primary infection.
My questions is
I gave unprotected oral to two guys simultaneously. In some occasions I had both penises in my mouth. No contact with sperm but probably with pre cum
Is that practice more risky than performing oral only on to one person ?
I'm not aware of their status. No anal no other activities.
I'm concerned and I'm googling but the opinions are so controversial that I stopped doing it. The only thing that made me ease my worries is a report which I can't remember where I read it about positive partners having oral with their negative partners and no infection took place.
I'm thinking of having the test six weeks after but a bit of reassurance would be much appreciated
Thank you for your time

Double nothing is still nothing.

Its a negligible concern, your mouth lacks the cells for HIV to infect with damage to start with and next to that the virus is very fragile, and your mouth has dozens of protein and enzymes that damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

If this is your only concern, move on with your life, no need to panic or run out and test. Simply test as routine when next due, as any sexual active adult should at least do yearly.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Hi. Last message about my situation. And this message is for those worrying about oral sex especially giving
Thank you moderators for all your hard work and advise
I’ve had a duo 4rth generation test today. 8 weeks mark. Negative
3 weeks after my incident I developed fever for one day a nasty cold sore throat stuffy nose and swollen lymph nodes under my right arm. Lymph nodes still there and they feel a bit uncomfortable. So when the moderators say you can’t go on the symptoms alone it is true. You CANT.
Then found out that one of the guys I was giving oral was hiv positive. The one I was giving more attention!
Now. I don’t think not getting hiv was pure luck but it is because you can’t.
I wasted all this time worrying. And for what ?
Please please. Go and test your self if you have any symptoms but symptoms alone mean nothing. And please breath in and listen to the moderators here.
Thank you again and all the best

Hi Peter.

Glad you are okay and thank you for the post.
You are correct symptoms mean nothing and people waste time stressing over nothing.

Take care.

Jim
