Because I Know It's Better Than Medicine!
« on: January 18, 2007, 08:50:26 pm »
Hello Everybody!

Wouldn't it be nice to get something in the mail besides bills?  Nothing makes me happier than to get something unexpected in the mail  :)  I am on a personal crusade to spread some good times...and no, for once, it doesn't have anything to do with me sending anyone naked pictures  ;D

Since I know music is better than any medicine and a great way to cope with LIVING WITH HIV, I am offering my time and good will to anybody who wants a personally mixed CD of some of their favorite songs.  It can be dance music, trance music, 80s music, 90s music, classical, industrial/EBM, newbeat, love songs, new age, folk, country, jazz, r&b, 70s music....whatever....and you can request that it be "continuously mixed" or just a straight compilation with a few seconds gap between songs.

You can either give me a "hit list" of songs or just give me a few of your favorite artists/bands and let me turn you on to some new music.  Now that's the best way to make ME happy.

Truly, I would do this for anyone who is willing to extend their thoughts about music to me.  I am absolutely -POSITIVELY- convinced that music has been the main reason that I am still healthy, happy, and going strong after LIVING WITH HIV for 21+ years.

It's all about keeping it real and keeping the good times rolling!  Don't be shy and I promise I want NOTHING in return from you.  A simple thank you will be enough.  You see, I really do enjoy the whole process of creating an audio-environment for people.  I consider myself a sonic stylist....hmmm....that's got a catchy sound to it.  Yeah, I'm a sonic stylist  ;D  Some of you know this about me already  ;)

It is quite nourishing to know that this genuine simplicity of positive intent is available to myself and to others. There is a deep definition of what Music is all about and its true purpose. In short, it is intense.

Woooow Amos

I applaude your initiative and the love you display in it.
After having lived for 20 years with HIV I to get the feeling I want to spread good vibes...
I am not only positive with HIV but also  with optimism and joy.
Maybe that is indeed why we survived.

I have been told to use "will you ... for me..." a lot more lately.
Well, Amos, would you , uhmmmm will you please, make   me a CD with lovesongs, 70's style, Motown, Chicago ( "if you leave me now", Alan Parson's project ("turn of a friendly card), Jim Brickman ( "love )  you get my style???

I will pm you Dan's address. He will keep it untill we meet again....sooooooon.

Well Amos, what a wonderful bright positive thing to do.
I love you for it.

Thank you.

I have been the beneficiary of several of Trixie's CDs; each one better than the previous.

AM has its very own Mix Master, or in this case, "Mix Mistress."

When you tire of music, Brooks, and start video-pirating Ardon's movies...keep me in mind  ;)

I've been on this 1960s French Pop music kick lately.

It gets the feet (and the CD4s) movin' a-go-go...

I picked up a CD called "Swingin' Mademoiselles," and if that isn't my personal track to heaven (Serge is my track to hell), I don't know what is.  It's French female pop singers from the early 60s.  So. Very. Awesome.

I've also decided that adding "a-go-go" to the end of anything makes it really, really cool.

Like "I'm gonna clean the litterbox."  Boring and icky.

But, "I'm gonna clean the litterbox... a-go-go."  Big, big fun.

And Brooks' CDs rule at life.  I love them longtime!

Benj,  I take it you want a French pop-diva mix....I can deliver, surprised?  I might need to take it to the 80s, 90s, and 00s with the likes of Mylene Farmer, Etienne Daho (worthy, though a boy), Zazie, and Autour De Lucie...but I guarantee it to be awesome, of course.  And, actually, I could throw in a little Serge Gainsbourg...never to disappoint, especially after a night out and a romp in the sack...it's great music to listen to and have coffee with your trick the morning after  ;D

Huzzah!  I would love that!  And I heart Mylene Farmer.  "Fuck them all!"

So beautemous.

Actually... and I'm a moron who forgets who did it... but there was this brilliant remix of Serge's "Bonnie and Clyde" that I've been unable to find... when my iPod bit the dust, it was deleted... but I absolutely loved it....

Benj...you are my delicious little devil...I think the version of "Bonnie and Clyde" that you are looking for is by Herbert and the remix is called (Herbert's Fred and Ginger Mix).  And yes, I have it and it will be included on your compilation ONLY if your promise to behave really BADLY (naughty, naughty  ;)) if and when I make it to Richmond.

Hey Brooks,

My first BF owned a radio station, after we went separate ways, he built 4 more.  Another former BF owned a record store.  I have more vinyl than most radio stations had when they had vinyl.  I guess good things always happen to the men I dump.

There is a song from the 70's that is really bugging me lately and I can not find it in any "last record store".  Would you happen to have "Cold Turkey" by John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band?  Have the best day

And of course, I'm capable of keeping you hot for round two..."mixed" or "not mixed"...darling?

Hey Brooks,

I have another request... Barbara Morrison has about 6 CD's available.  They say she has a 2 1/2 octave range.  I have seen her many times in L.A. and I say she can start and stop the wind with the power of her voice.  She used to cover "Dr. Feelgood" in the shows but it is not on any of the CD's I can find.  She said she left a copy at Birdland West but someone grabbed it before I got there.  Have the best day

I remember another one.  Esther Phillips "Aged and Mellow."  I always dated older men until I reached their age so when she sings, "I like my men like I like my whiskey, aged and mellow" I just fall right out of bed.  Have the best day
