why the repeat tests ?

I live in Canada. I got all my Hep A and B shots years ago, and got a Hep C test during my cancer treatments a few years ago. Was in the clear for all mentioned. I don't have a sex life and don't travel abroad, yet the HIV clinic people insist I take repeat tests for Hep A, B, C. I try to clarify this said info to them every time but they keep at me every time ( so I gave in just recently, even though I think it's a waste of time and money ).
 Why are HIV/AIDS people treated this way in Canada ?

Welcome AsOne,

I sure don't know the answer, but I bet with some prodding, you could be the one to research this question and find the answer for all of us.  This is one of those questions that few ever think about, and when someone like you is "dinged" with the reality that something sounds fishy, then it is usually because you are the one that has been chosen to find the answer.  I look foward to the solution that you might uncover.

It's very possible that your docs want to know if you have developed protective antibodies to the Hepatitis A and B shots that you already got.  If you don't have detectable antibodies, it might be worth while repeating the shots to try to get you protected.  It's generally a good idea to repeat hepatitis C testing.  It's not uncommon to be surprised by a hep C diagnosis that was uncovered incidentally and not know about it and have the patients scratch their heads trying to figure out how they could have gotten it.  And since it's one of those infection that can affect and be affected by HIV co-infection, it's sometimes prudent to recheck.

It is also very likely that they want THEIR OWN record of your test results.  Why don't you see if you can provide them with a copy of your original results and vaccinations?  That just might suffice.

 Yes, Eldon, sometimes the most simple reply  ( like Sdgirl's ) can give the most peace of mind, which is what I was looking for. And thanks for the warm greeting.

Gerry and Lisa both could be correct. If the immunizations didn't take, they will probably suggest readministering them.

My doc recently discovered I was never screened for Hep A. I am immune to Hep B through exposure.

So, sometimes a follow-up doesn't hurt.
