Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Oral and swollen lymph nodes

Hello, everyone.

  I have been very scared recently due to the fact that I had unprotected oral sex with another man about 3 months ago. About a month later I found swollen lymph nodes throughout my body and neck. They are still there.
  I haven't experienced any other symptoms like tiredness rash flu-like symptoms etc. I initially didn't think of HIV initially so I went to the doctor and she had me tested for all kinds of stuff and it seems that I don't have any of them... At some point I was sick from mononucleosis. And I had 4 bites from a weird animal (unidentified) on both of my legs that stayed for about a month as well. My general blood test also came back normal.
  As far as my sexual encounter I chose oral due to knowing the risks are small but the other man ejaculated in my mouth. I immediately spit everything out and washed my mouth after that.
  I think the only explanation for these swollen lymph nodes is HIV and I am going to get tested tomorrow, but I'm so nervous that I felt I needed to write here and speak with people that have more knowledge than what is generally written on the net.

Hi
There are many things that can cause swollen lymph nodes including pressing on them , your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV. Giving a blow job is a theoretical risk if any and if this is your only worry you can fully expect a negative result when you test.

To avoid infection,

You need to be using condoms for all anal and vaginal intercourse until you are in a trusting monogamous relationship and both have been tested for all STIs and HIV.
Everyone who is sexually active should have an annual exam and test for all STIs and HIV ,and always after unprotected intercourse. Always using condoms will give you peace of mind your tests will return with a negative result.

 Thank you very much for the fast responce my doctors also seem to share that opinion. Nevertheless I'll get tested tomorrow hopefully you it'll go well. The only thing that concerns me is that the lymph nodes have been swollen for a month now.
