There's been so much post-hoc editing in this thread by Rjane that's it's been rendered a bit useless.  Bad netiquette, darling.

I edited one post once. As I may have said before, many people come to this forum for advice, to be uplifted and consoled. I fail to see how the tone of your continuing statements make this forum a comfortable place.  The matter is settled and there is no need for further inflammatory discussion.

I don't mean to nit pick or anything, but I'm having a hard time following this, and a few other, posts due to so much after-the-fact editing.  I believe I counted 11 posts in this thread that had been edited by the OP.

I dont know why people feel the need to continue commenting in this regard. The conversation is over, ended, finished.. Period. There are more useful ways to spend your time than dwelling in the past or on issues that have been resolved.

If anyone has any questions on anything related to ADAP, call them. Period. Conversation ended.

  • EPIC FIERCENESS!
I'm just simply aghast at the fact that you want to "use" ADAP first (even if it is indeed possible) for vericose veins rather than having to jump on your wifes insurance or pay for it yourself out of your own pocket (as stated in previous posts), you seem to be awash in money, upgrading to a bigger and better house, trying to conceive, and contempating going back to your job in finance.

I wish Scott, my dear friend I lost  a couple of years ago, had had the ability to get Meds from ADAP, (much less for vericose veins), or had a couch of his own to sleep on, (much less the ability to upgrade to a bigger and better house) or had a family of his own (much less the ability to grow a family).

I'm not trying to judge you, but your post seems very insensitive when you look at the big picture and remember all those who are on waiting lists for ADAP, or are having trouble getting assistance from ADAP, or have died during both of these instances.

Let's kill this thread, it's all BS.

ADAP does not, nor has it ever paid for any medical services, with the exception of services required to obtain HIV and HIV-related medications.  THAT IS FACT and no matter what the OP says, he is wrong. ADAP is not there for whimsical surgery on a situation that is not HIV related and I do not want any reader to think that is so.  The fact he will not mention the state, is enough, because there IS NO STATE ADAP THAT WILL PAY FOR MEDICAL SERVICES.  PERIOD.  END OF DISCUSSION.

Rjane, you can quote and deflect all you want, but I will never share your point of view, because there is simply not enough room, up your ass, for both of our heads.  ;D

I had a minor procedure in 2003 which adap paid for. I will be meeting with the doctor tomorrow and its confirmed that ADAP will pay for the procedure. I will have to pay for the anesthesia. Maybe I lucked out, but its a fact Adap is paying for my procedure. Period.

That whoosh you hear is everything going right over your head.

Edited to add: Dear readers, the information contained in this thread is highly suspect and you should contact your local Health Department to see if you qualify for any programs.  ADAP provides HIV and HIV-related medications only.  Ryan White may help with medical services or you may qualify for Medicaid.  Also, for those on Medicare Part D, most states will allow you to use ADAP when you hit the doughnut hole.

People still want to go on and on with this. I guess they like arguing. I dont. I am logging off to enjoy my life, meeting my wife and friends for a early dinner and then a movie. When I return, I dont intend to respond further to this thread.

At the end of the day, ADAP funds are federal, administered at the State level. When federal funds are stipulated to be for certain things, in this case hiv meds, the State cannot allocate these funds for anything other than hiv meds or their administration. I'll repeat what is stated on the federal site concerning ADAP:

http://hab.hrsa.gov/programs/adap/

TITLE II: AIDS DRUG ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) provides medications for the treatment of HIV disease. Program funds may also be used to purchase health insurance for eligible clients.  Amendments to the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act in October 2000 added language allowing ADAP funds to be used for services that enhance access to, adherence to, and monitoring of drug treatments. The program is funded through Title II of the CARE Act, which provides grants to States and Territories.

An operation on varicose veins does not fall into the catagory of "medications for the treatment of HIV disease" nor "services that enhance access to, adherence to, and monitoring of drug treatments". Regardless of what Rjane claims.

I can't see this thread going anywhere good. I'm locking it.
