I've picked up some sort of bug
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:40:45 am »
 :-\

The last two days have been miserable, and most of the time I really don't complain about crap,  but I feel like I've been run over!!

Started with a scratchy, irritated, throat, then a lot of coughing and sneezing. My throat is a little swollen, around the glands, but otherwise,  not running a temperature, and appetite is good. It's starting to settle in the upper lungs. I know it's not allergies, cause I don't get allergies.

I decided not to take any chances, so I called,  have an appointment at the VA clinic, with my primary, tomorrow morning @8:30.  Just in case I need some sort of anti-biotic.

Salt water gargles are helping , and I'm using chloroseptic spray, for the time being.

It never fails,....I've either gotten a cold, just before vacation, or toward the end of vacation. Someone's out to get me!   :P     I go back to work this Sunday.

Thanks T,...

Just got to roll with the punches every once in a while.  At least my lungs are sounding better.  That expresso machine sound has calmed down a little.

See what tomorrow morning brings.

 :)

Just got back from the doctor, and she thinks its viral.  Temperature was normal, no fevers or sweats to report, or achy bones. Lungs sounded good.  She looked into the ears , and up the nose, and down the throat. She noticed a little bit of inflammation up one nostril.  Overall, she said , it looks as though I am through the worst of it.

None of the glands are swollen.

But she decided to do a throat culture anyway, and I should get those results back around 3:00 this afternoon.

Oh that's OK  !!  ;)  No AA here, but I gave up drinking years ago.  Every once in a while I will have a cold beer, but otherwise, alcohol doesn't agree with me anymore !

So far, everything's going pretty well.  The coughing has stopped. I never heard back this afternoon as to the result of the throat culture.  I will probably hear something on Monday.

Although, no news is good news !

Ray,

Glad to read things are improving.

Espresso machine sounds (yikes!). Those times when you want a vacuum job.

It always seems completely unfair (I know, I know) to be ill in the summer.

Hey, you Fruity Old Thang, I'm going to have to slap your wrist for posting in LTS. ~slap!~

Nevertheless, I'll join you in your commiserations over Ray's summer cold. They suck! Hope you feel better soon, Ray. :-*

Well,  I thought I was doing quite well actually. Got through the work week with no problem But, The doctor thinks differently.  So yesterday I had to go to the VA hospital and pick up a prescription for Azithromycin.  I took two of them yesterday, and one per day for 4 days.  it's the 250 mg dose.  Who would have thunk it. I was feeling great !

No, ( she)  my primary care Dr.,  just left  a message on my answering machine, stating that a prescription would be waiting for me at the VA. Must have been something in that throat culture.  :P
