V11Bi Mutation
« on: September 18, 2017, 08:11:04 pm »
I had been off my meds for about a year....Last month my new doctor did a genosure test on me and found a V11Bi mutation with Emtricitabine ...FTC. She prescribed me Genvoya but I see that Emtricitabine is on the of the drugs in that.

Question is...should my doctor not have prescribed me an hiv medication with Emtricitabine......or?

Thanks

While it's not preferable, there is some mounting evidence that dual therapy (two-dimensional regimine) are sufficient to suppress HIV, especially integrate inhibitors.
Did it indicate that your strain was completely resistant or only slightly?

Depends, and nobody here can say it was wrong. We don't have all the details and/or medical knowledge to make that call.

Would say talk to her, express your concern and I am sure she can walk you through the decision or change it.
