I'm a middle-aged Vira-mutant
« on: August 07, 2008, 02:08:53 pm »
I've been diagnosed with AIDS since Oct. '07.  By the time I found out I was past the HIV mark at 37t and 750K VL.  On Truvada and Viramune Haart since 2-08.  At the 3 mons. mark, the numbers had greatly improved to 170t and 5000 vl.  I felt better, and had hopes of pulling off a normal semblance in the world.  But five months in, I started feeling tired again and for my six month tests, the numbers went way bad, as though I weren't even taking the meds, 70t and 165K vl.  So today I go to see my ID Doc.  He says the virus has mutated and won't respond to to the Viramune. Probably because I was taking a new prescribed med.   How lovely, I got mutants.

I was in a clinical study that was paying for the meds.  This kicks me out.  There's another study I may qualify for, depending on how my X-4 and/or R-5 chromosomes twist out.  Or something like that.  I haven't done my research yet.  Otherwise, it's what, a grand or more a month for HAART.  Oh shit.  But at some point, I do have insurance  but it's getting to where I'm spending about 25% of my income of healthcare costs.  Ok, I'll stop whining, I shoulda worn the rubber.  I don't know what the new meds will be, but if I'm in that study, I'll get either a placebo, or not, of a secondary medicine, and the study would pay for an approved treat meds to go along. I don't know if I rather have the placebo (it might help) or not (it might fuck up my liver or worse, my penis -yes I'm wildly speculating, but fook!)  All I really want to do is smoke some pot and chronically masterbate.  For medicinal reasons only mind you.  That's the little boy in me.  But tomorrow I go back to work and pretend that everything is cool and I'm in charge of a generous section of temporary responsibility and we are going to get things done well and have fun and try to make some money.  Even though I'm tired.
