Right, I am absolutely terrible at packing to go away and I always forget something. What are you all taking with you? Apart from clothes, don't miss off anything you think is obvious as well because chances are I'll forget it!

meds
travel size shampoo, body wash, shave cream, toothpaste etc..
mp3 player
laptop
digital camera
cell phone & charger

Sweatshirt/sweater
khaki pants

long sleeve shirts

underwear
baseball cap
glasses/sunglasses

I'll be taking the obvious - clothes and toiletries. In addition, I'll bring my notebook pc, digital cameras, extra batteries and charger, cell phone and charger, headphones, MP3 player, meds and other Rx's, sunscreen (espec. important if one's on an antibiotic like Bactrim), baseball cap, jacket, sunglasses (2 pair), maybe a small pair of binoculars, and I'm sure too many other items. I've always thought that it's better to bring too much and not need it than to not bring enough! I know I'll remember several items that I forgot to pack as soon as the plane takes off.

I have packed and unpacked not sure what to bring because of the weather. I now have everything packed and just waiting to get the chance to leave here and go down to Lisa's. We both fly out of Greensboro NC together at 6am on Thursday. I know one thing all my meds will be with me on this trip never know your luggage might get lost.

If you're afraid of forgetting something, remember that you'll be staying in the heart of one of the biggest downtown shopping districts in the U.S. The GAP is right across the street from the hotel, and if you're looking for something more upscale, Armani is just a few blocks away at 278 Post Street.
Attention all Brits: A couple of years ago two English friends of mine came to visit San Francisco. They were amazed at the low prices in the U.S., especially clothing. So you might want to pack light and buy stuff here.

I so need to get organized.
I can't seem to figure out what to bring. Cold weather, hot weather, in between weather.
Jackets, sweatshirts, shorts, jeans, long sleeve this, short sleeve that.
Good lord! >:(
I'm just going to throw stuff in a suitcase the night before and as Hunter said: "Hope it works".

weather.com forecast: Thrusday thru Sat will be highs of mid 60's to lows of 57 for all three days/nights. Kind of fall-like temps when I relate this to Ohio....but then I factor in possible wind or fog rolling in off the bay and it might feel a little cooler at night. ???
I think I'm packing too much. Like usual.

Hot, cold, warm, cool, somewhere in between... plus gloom of night, rain, fog and smog. Barring none, the most acurate weather forcast you can find is www.nws.noaa.gov (http://www.nws.noaa.gov). Go to home page and type in San Francisco, CA. It will give you the next 7 days, everytime. Hope it helps. Have the best day

Well AMGers,
Packing so soon? Not here. It makes the dog very nervous. We pack after dinner on Tuesday, once Tucker is at the kennel with Grandma Vicki. Tucker will spend days at Vicki's Doggy Day Care and at Vicki's home at night with her momma and daddy. Best kennel we have ever found. The little red head will not want to come home.
See you all on Wednesday or Thursday (Saturday Gary).
Til then safe trip to all and cyber hugs until we can exchange the real ones. Love, Ric

Do you know what it is like to pack size 13 shoes in a suitcase? I do and I took them out they take up too much damn room. >:(
-
you only need one pair of shoes, jerry. The ones on your feet. You've already told us enough. I guarantee you, people will not be looking at your feet.

TESTIFY!
Actually, I was just asking Jer myself: About how much spending cash do you think one should allot for SF? Mind you, I am on the typical AIDS budget, but seriously. I am not the exotic traveller, so I'm kind of up in the air.
Any insight?

Jerry,
Maybe you can just check the shoes as luggage. Tie the laces together, slap on a tag, and hand them over to be put on the conveyor belt!

PS: I haven't packed anything yet. So Blixer, you are not that far behind. I am planning on getting a sassy new haircut tomorrow (I am in dire need of one). And I am getting my packing started tomorrow.
Eep! I got the pre-flight jitters and stuff!
I keep hearing Edina Monsoon in my head: "Money! Tickets! Passport! Money! Tickets! Passport!"

LOL David watch it now!!!

EEP! I'm getting nervous! I haven't memorized anything either! HELP! :o
That's the other thing I have to do tomorrow- go thru the Gatherings threads and print off some of this info so I will have it with me!
I have a feeling Josh and I are a lot alike on the travel front. :-\

Gosh, I envy you guys! I wish I was going, too!
Perhaps those of you who fear getting lost can exchange cell numbers with each other? Or have you already done that? I would want the numbers of at least 4 people if I was going to a new place that I didn't know.
Have a blast! Don't forget the lube, either! ;)

I feel like I"m making progress now... Maybe even a bit ahead of the game.
thunter... I did laundry on Sunday and got all my stuff together... One suitcase... and probably lots of stuff I still don't need.
And I've already gone through the forums and printed off a bunch of directions. Now, will I be able to find them when I need them is the question.
I ordered my AAA travel guide and San Francisco map months ago. Not sure how handy they will be but the map sure is nice.
I've got my tickets to use public transit to get from my house to the airport in St. Louis and I've received my tickets to use public transit to get from the Oakland airport to the hotel.
So maybe I'm all set to go... still quite nervous, but looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Oh my, imagine memorizing all the forum names associated with the real names in such a short time! :P
I have print outs of the itinerary and directions to some events........and now am attempting to get the tansit route/buses printed out--which is likely what you guys are referring to.
But it's all OKay guys (THunter & other folks), plenty of helpful attendees to guide ya.
