MJ (mostly off the wall, some thriller)
Madge is always being listened to (confessions lp-sorry in particular)
Maxwell's new one
Paolo Nutini
Grace Jones' not-so-newest one is still being listened to

Hmmm, Skeebo gave me ideas....I have a few reggae songs on my PC but mainly old school stuff. Am thinking about adding some Beenie Man, Lady Saw, Elephant Man, Patra, and some Grace Jones, Pull up to my bumper.....I haven't heard of most of the stuff people listed.

  Burning Spear is that real deep roots reggae....  So you must be a fan but didn't know it ;).  My first wife worked at a Payless shoe store on South Beach.  This is back in 1991, and I would go pick her up after work.  One night as my wife and I  were leaving her job the group (Burning Spear) was walking down Washington ave.  A few words were exchanged (pleasantries) and they gave my wife and I some free tickets for the next nights show they were pulling at some old theatre down there called Roxies I think....  Long time ago, but had a great time indeed.

Had my dub and roots period in the 80's but it seemed to peter out, just like my passion for salsa.  And for no good reason. Maybe I smoked less dope I dunno.

This past week has included:

Mildred Bailey radio broadcast on CD for first time, (Mildred's DA BEST!)
The Essential Janis Ian
Amos Wilburn r&b,
Mel Torme
Chris Connor
YIDDISH SONGS FOR THE SOUL, a cd of a gym buddy's. Unlike anything else on my shelves. Sort of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF to the max.

To be continued...

Re other lists above, man!, haven't heard The Thompson Twins in a while...

I'd forgotten about Janis Ian, that's a blast from the past.

I just logged on to her website.  So much stuff, free downloads, ringtones and other things I could probably do without.

My favourite, is that she will perform in your front room for $9,999.  What a trooper.

Probable not very "summery" kind of music...

* Tori Amos - every album except "Strange Little Girls"
* Lisa Shaw - both "Free" and "Cherry" (if you like good vocals and/or chillout please give her a try)
* Sade- Best of Sade
* La Roux
* Led Zeppelin I to IV
* Mos Def - "Black on Both Sides"
* Loreena McKennitt - "The Book of Secrets"
* CSS - "Cansei de Ser Sexy"
* Diana Navarro - her three albums
* Madonna - Everything since "Erotica"
* Pastora - "La Vida Moderna"
* Norah Jones - Everything
* Rachelle Ferrell - Everything
* Bessie Smith - Vol. I and II
* Justice - Cross
* MJ - every single since 'Ben'
* Saint Etienne - "So Tough", "Finisterre", and "Good Humour"
* NIN - "Pretty Hate Machine" and "With Teeth"
* Rammstein - Everything
* Miles Davis - tracks from different albums
* Gabrielle - "Rise"
* Blur - Best of
* Reggae Gold 2007 and 2008
* A couple of albums with sounds of rain and waves to help me fall asleep
* my favourite "100 pop and R&B singles" for every year since 1991

and the darned thing's not full yet... someone mentioned Cocteau Twins, I need to load some of their stuff...

Come to think of it, my Bon Iver files went missing.....  Kind of down music for summer though. Well maybe outside at night could be magic.

Yeah it's not one for the garden on a sunny day that's for sure!  I was so impressed with him live though he plays with three drummers and really beefs up the sound I highly recommend going to see him if you get chance.

From EW:

Gay Fever Dream of the Week: Melinda Doolittle's "It's Your Love" gets remixed for the dance floor three (3!) times.

I like the Rizzo Radio Mix best. It puts her vocals front and center.
