It was probably just some copyright BS, for using that song by the Black Keys.  I once uploaded something using a Tina Turner song and they took it down in less than an hour.

Meanwhile in lily white land.

Got pretty wasted last night and gave Lana Del Rey's full CD a spin in HiFi and good earphones.

Off to the Races is pretty epic, lyrics below.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odhmYrjObXY&feature=related

I like the trip hop production. I believe shes playing the roll of a groupie (maybe black?) - I mean basically a "bitch" for some skeezy hip hop star or hollywood producer type.

Any hoo, I like the CD on phones and with weed.  I would like it kicked up a bit. Like when Todd Terry mixed Missing (EBTG)  or the remixes of Madonna's What it Feels Like For a Girl (Oakenfold, Thunderpuss). Speaking of Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stage Whisper came on after Lana last night and it ain't bad at all.

My old man is a bad man
But I can't deny the way he holds my hand
And he grabs me, he has me by my heart
He doesn't mind I have a Las Vegas past
He doesn't mind I have a L.A crass way about me
He loves me with every beat of his cocaine heart

Swimming pool
Glimmering darling
White bikini off with my red nail polish
Watch me in the swimming pool
Bright blue ripples, you
Sitting sipping on your black crystal, oh yeah

Light of my life, fire in my loins
Be a good baby, do what I want
Light of my life, fire in my loins
Gimme them gold coins
Gimme them coins

And I'm off to the races, races
Up Bacardi chases
Chasing me all over town
Cause he knows i'm wasted,
Facing time again at Riker's Island
And I won't get out

Because I'm crazy, baby
I need you to come here and save me
I'm your little scarlet, starlet
Singing in the garden,
Kiss me on my open mouth
Ready for you

My old man is, a tough man
But he got a soul as sweet as blood red jam
And he shows me, he knows me every inch of my tar black soul
He doesn't mind I have a flat broke down life
In fact he says he thinks it's what he might like about me, admires me
The way I roll like a rolling stone

Likes to watch me in the glass room, bathroom
Chateau Marmont
Slipping on my red dress, putting on my make up
Glass film, perfume, cognac, lilac,
Fume, says it feels like heaven to him

Light of his life, fire of his loins
Keep me forever, tell me you want me
Light of your life, fire of your loins
Tell me you want me, gimme them coins

And I'm off to the races, races
Up Bacardi chases
Chasing me all over town
Cause he knows i'm wasted, facing
Time again at Riker's,
Island and I won't get out

Because I'm crazy, baby
I need you to come here and save me
I'm your little scarlet, starlet
Singing in the garden,
Kiss me on my open mouth

Now I'm off to the races, laces
Leather on my waist is,
Tight and I am falling down
I can see your faces, shameless
Cipriani's basement
Love you, but I'm going down

God I'm so crazy, baby
I'm sorry that I'm misbehaving
I'm your little harlet, starlet
Queen of Coney Island
Raising hell all over town
Sorry 'bout it

My old man is a thief, and
I'm gonna stay and pray with him til the end
But I trust in the decision of the law,
To watch over us
Take him when he may, if he may
I'm not afraid to say
That I'd die without him
Who else is gonna put up with me this way
I need you, I breathe you, I'll never leave you
They would rue the day, I was alone without you

You're lying with your gold chain on
Cigar of hanging from your lips
I said hon' you never looked so beautiful
As you do now my man

And we're off to the races, places
Ready set the gate is, down
And then we're going in
To las vegas, pay us
Cause you know we'll race this
Honey it is time to spit
Boy you're so crazy, baby
I love you forever
Not maybe
You are my one true love
You are my one true love
You are my one true love

Somehow I missed this when you posted it.  Thanks.  It got me a little teary eyed though.

Watching that video with some of children from the House of Extravaganza reminded me that someone uploaded the entire Paris Is Burning to vimeo.  This ranks for me as one of the top five best films evah made (it still holds a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes).  It is also virtually impossible to find on DVD (unless you feel like paying over $100 for a used copy)

Spacebarsux, I'm linking this one for you.  I know you will enjoy my girl Anji and the other divas.  Get yourself some education, honey.

Wow, Paris Is Burning costs +$100 now? Good thing I bought it when it first came out.

Oh... and lemme see -- yes, indeed I saw this on Day #2, opening week at the Film Forum in NYC and the room was full of Ballroom chilluns carrying on so loud you could barely hear the movie. Of course that was half of the fun.

ps: I also slept with Macho Xtravaganza twice in the mid-90's -- he's the one walking in the Butch Queen category. I think he's still in maximum security prison. It's been 7 years since he called me collect.

Be that as it may, girl -- I just put it out there for those who may have wanted a quick fix, since Vimeo was mentioned earlier.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to have bought the dvd back in the prehistoric years when it came out - and so many look to online sources for their material these days.

Get with the program.

The DVD didn't come out until 2005 due to copyright issues with a couple of songs. That was just so long ago.

At any rate, if you suck cock and don't own a copy of the actual DVD then you're officially lame and I don't want to talk to you. Get with the program? Honey I wrote the muthafuckin program. Learn it, and learn it well.

That's actually good to know since I know a couple of lame lesbians who have never taken the time to watch it.  I never even thought of looking for it there.  Whenever I need my Xtravaganza fix I just pop my DVD in the player (and I would neva allow anyone to borrow it).

Surprisingly enough there was a recent re-release (or some batch that had been kept at a warehouse somewhere) cause Amazon had it for a couple months.  I bought a copy for one of my long time friends as a birthday present (he was always whining about the fact that someone had stolen his).

And you are right, any self-respecting queen who knows betta needs to own this.

I can't imagine the pitch sessions that resulted in this ad being made.

I like nasty straight porn.  But did take a moment to peruse the thepinkcross.org "Healting Lives From Porn" website.  Which is kind of manipulative and twisted but occasionally compelling.

Is that actually the Old Spice guy's voice or just an imitation.  The ad is Old Spice done gonzo style.

I'm not sure if I'm thumbs up or thumbs down on this ad.

Shouldn't Varla Jean Merman get royalties?

My Philadelphia cycle starts this evening with Blow Out (1981)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khsPBdyBxlY

I think next up is Rocky...   I want to keep it kind of sweaty, macho, melodramatic or noire/dark...  Maybe The Young Philadelphians (1959) to get in the mood for the Mad Men season... then....

Blow Out is quite sleazy - its reminding me of Taxi Driver.  Nancy Allen channels Jean Harlow through Betty Boop.  Travolta slight, hairy chest, pretty face, sexy greasy hair, and underplaying til the end.  The most ridiculous race across-a-city-in-celebration scene.  Than the hero runs in slowmotion through the crowd square to save the girl from the evil man - so its sleazy and cheesy.

Oh and can you imagine anything like this today?
this kind of music pleasantly happens all the time in the movies.

While all three of the "Lord of the Rings" movies, for example, has some beautiful stuff, lately I've been listening to the stuff Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross have done for Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (a very good movie!). I would also suggest any of the movie soundtracks that either Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mtn., 21 grams, Babel, Motorcycle Diaries) or Basil Poledouris (Starship Troopers, Hunt for Red October, Conan the Destroyer, and one of my personal favs Conan the Barbarian) had a hand in. Hans Zimmer (Dark Knight, Lion King, Gladiator, Inception) produces some nice scores also.

I'M HERE TO SNAKE YOUR DRAIN!

As I was reading this and wondering what it was, the commercial came on at the exact same time.  I saw this on Jimmy Kimmel.  Do they show it in Primetime?  So, they can show this commercial, but refused to show that gay dating site ad during the 2011 Super Bowl.  And, definitely no condom ads--except on Comedy Central late night.

this kind of music pleasantly happens all the time in the movies.

Right you are about the quality of the music.

I was referring to a grand epic movie with an Overture and Intermission.  With claaaaaasy music no less.

I can barely remember these in the USA.

All movies had intermission in Switzerland when I moved here in the last 90's.  Now its very rare.

Overture and Intermission.
what are those??? LOL
the last time I saw either of those was during a re-run of "Gone with the Wind" on TNT

although an intermission would have been nice during any of the LOTR trilogy movies. damn they were long! Thank goodness I quit smoking but a bathroom break should would be nice during the longer movies.

LOTR had intermissions in Switzerland.  But no music.

And speaking of Jimmy Kimmel

I saw that on his Oscar night special.  I was surprised he got so many A-list stars to take part.  Oprah was on that night.  He did a bit where he pitches show ideas for OWN.  I thought it was kinda funny.  The "Oprah Book Fight Club" was pretty funny.  It was nice to see Oprah have some fun with herself.  A few years ago, I can't imagine seeing her doing these fight scenes.  I'm sure she would have said it was unbecoming and made women look like they naturally want to fight--yada, yada, yada.  The fight scenes actually look pretty realistic.

Good for them.  Oh, the reporter says some left comments saying they don't like to see PDA, whether it be from straights or gays.  Bullshit!  Those people wouldn't have said that about a wife jumping up into her husband's arms.

I don't if it is my age, geographic location or general state of uncool but the hipster phenomenon seems to have totally passed me by.

Kids these days...
