I just happened to flip the remote and caught the last 10 minutes of
this episode on the ION cable channel last night. It is a story of an interracial lesbian couple and violent hateful incidents they endured in the 1930s.
I have to say that the episode hit me emotionally like a ton of bricks. Especially the presentation of ghosts from the distant past visiting the present.
You can see Marla Gibbs (The Jeffersons/227 sitcoms) near the end of the episode. I understand the original broadcast was around 2005 or 2006.

Yeah, I remember this episode. It was one of my favorites, the way that they recreated the whole Prohibition era (and the music that they used).
I also remember the one called "It's Raining Men (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0543933/)", which focused on the early days of the AIDS. It was kinda stereotypical, but fairly decent nonetheless.
