So how do we get to the hotel from the airport (taxi or metro)?  Or has this been covered in one of the other 35 threads we have to keep up with?

The subway doesn't go to the airport. You can take a cab or a shuttle. The shuttle is cheaper and will bring you to the Bus terminal which is very close to the Hotel ( on the outside on De Maisonneuve Str. the Hotel is on your left ahead of you ).

I can't answer this question though. They possibly have enough space where the luggages are stored but don't take this as gospel.

They might have special shuttle though for people having mobility problems.

There's nothing scheduled for the 16th. We can welcome some of the suckers ( arriving that day ) as you wrote since we will have their arrival time ( at the airport ). Afterwards, I'm up to anything...so dinner and get wasted sounds fine to me.

A bit of a bump, plus a suggestion that one (AMG Coordinator) obtain the contact details (email addresses) of those who are attending.  This way, when important information is needed, you can email the group since some people may not check the AMG threads (or even visit the forums) often. 

It may also be beneficial to have specific flight information so that, if necessary, people can check flight status (in case someones flight has been delayed, folks aren't sitting around waiting for them to arrive).  Or maybe have a request that people send a SMS/text message to a specific number once they have landed and are on their way to the hotel.

A separate Google/Yahoo group would probably easily facilitate this (and could be restricted so that personal information, if posted, isn't available to the entire world).  It would also be easier to facilitate mass emailings using the group on-line functions.

ok, instead of me making suggestions, I should get off my lazy ass and do something.  I've created a Google group for AMG 2006 (information below to access the group).  It is restricted since I expect that some private information may be shared and it's probably best not to have that available to the entire world.  I've added several people (who I already had their email addresses), so you guys will receive an invitation to join the group.  For those who I do not have your email address, please send it to me via PM and I will send you an invite.  I don't expect for the Google group to facilitate discussion on AMG (that should be kept here), but it's a way for us to have everyone's email address and to send private communication efficiently.  I will soon add a Google Spreadsheet (that everyone can edit) to add their contact details, flight arrangements, cell/mobile phones, etc..

And don't worry folks, once we have all the contact details that group will be removed and disbanded and you will not receive any more mailings.  Also please do not share the contact listing outside of the group, given the sensitive nature of the details.

I can't access the group.  Yahoo will not send me a confirming email to my request to join the group.  I'm stressed.

I think I can expand the current table of arrival flights and times and include cell phone numbers if that would be easier.  I know that this would not be secure and I like your option much better.  Just wish I could gain access.

Hi Ric,

I'm not sure why you are unable to gain access.  I have already made you a member, so you shouldn't need to make a request to join the group.  Without seeing what's going on, I can't really tell why it's not letting you join or sign-in.

But to be honest, there's not much information being discussed in the group, so there's really no need to ever access the group via Google itself.  I've changed the settings where everyone will get a daily digest of the emails sent to the group account, (which will also include any postings made by members).  You are already set up to receive that email.

In regards to your information, you can send it to me either via a PM here or using the email for the Group (by clicking the link below), your details and I will add it to the schedule:

I can't gain access either.  The first day was no problem but now it tells me to sign in using my email address and they (google) will send me the confirmaion.  But they never do.  I get the "daily digest" of emails but they don't do me any good if I can't open so why bother?  I guess you're right, though.  If I have any changes I can just send you an email.  No problemo.

I don't know, for me personally, it's hard to comprehend how much this gathering has grown.  I feel like a kid at Christmas, you know, seeing all those beautifully wrapped presents under the tree, and just screaming with excitement over the chance to open each one.  Maybe that's a silly analogy but it's the best one I can come up with at this point.  I just know, I'm looking forward to this trip to Montreal because I'm going with no real agenda other than having a good time.  I deserve to have a weekend of fun and excitement, a weekend of laughter, a weekend where my damn HIV status doesn't matter, cause last time I checked, everyone else that's going is just like me or if they aren't they don't give a shit.   I think we all deserve this--I think we're all allowed to have this little slice of fun--strike that--I think we've friggin earned it!

There's a modification in my arrival to Montreal. I decided to get there on August 15th and therefore expected to get to the Hotel around 2:00 PM.

I forgot to ask them previously what was the cost of their parking. This is mostly of interest for the ones arriving by car. The price is $16.50 CAD / day ( + taxes I assume...but Americans will be able to get refund for the taxes paid---I won't  ) . The entrance of their parking is directly on St-Hubert street.

You don't need to check in first, you can enter the parking and there's an elevator that will bring you to the lobby of the Hotel and so you check in afterwards.

I noticed there's quite a few arriving around the same time as you. I would have a suggestion for these persons. It would probably be cheaper if you get together and use a cab ( splitting the cost ) instead of paying each the full amount for the shuttle. Hi Canuck, you're absolutely right! 6 others besides me are arriving between 11:45-12:55 including Oscar (Dan J.), jkinatl2, Jody, Lou-ah-vull, & David NC & Partner.

Normally at 7 you can't all get into one cab but there's a possibility to take one who has a van. Two years ago the cost of the cab from the airport to the bus station in Montreal ( very close to the hotel ) was $30.00 CAD. It probably went up since and could be $40.00 CAD ( not completely sure ). The cab drivers aren't too keen to take 7 passengers even if they have a van because they are greedy I suppose. However we did that in downtown Montreal this last April and cab driver told us there would be an extra since we were 7. The actual extra was only $5.00. if he would charged you $45-$50. CAD it still remains a cheap ride.

Marc and I will arrive on August 17th in Montreal at 3:05 PM and depart on the 21st at 7:49 AM with layovers coming and going in Chicago.  Coming on American Airlines we will share transportation to the Hotel with anyone arriving in the middle of the afternoon on the 17th.  Marc contacted me tonight and the word is GO!  We're both very excited.
