I finished my 14 day diet in 3 hours and 15 minutes
« on: April 17, 2016, 10:13:44 am »
I have been trying desperately to loose my winter fat.
I do eat healthy but I'm ALWAYS hungry  ???

Could just be age ?
I stay active and try to get in a good walk several times a week
Not enough I guess...
Maybe its the meds ..yea thats it  :)
Anyone else on a perpetual diet ?

Thanks... I'm surprised it lasted that long sitting in front of a computer.

Wade, it seemed like I was doing well for a while, then the weather started getting warm and for some reason I got hungry! Not sure why, it's not like I have gotten more active in the past few days.  But I've been hungry for junk food also, which is new.  Last night on my way to work I took some Doritos and a Hershey bar I got at the gas station lol.  Thank heavens I didn't finish them.

I guess it's just keep trying.  When I got home from work last night I ate a salad, so there you go.  All we can do is try.  I lost a lot of weight with my last couple hospital stays, but do need to get more physically active.  Now just to put that plan into action.  Good luck, I know the struggle well!

Thanks Betty,
I eat a lot of fish and chicken and hardly no red med meat.
Trouble is I also like Italian food which always involves pasta and cheese.
A salad for dinner wouldn't satisfy me unless it comes with a pork chop... lol
I think it has a lot to do with getting older and thing shifting around.
Oh well , I will work it off this spring ..I hope.

Yeah, each year it gets harder and harder to lose the Winter fat. I gained more this year than ever.  Thankfully, I only have a few pounds to lose to be at my ideal weight and fit into my summer clothes.

I'm fortunate in that when it gets hot outside, I have no appetite so I tend to mostly eat salads.

I have a weight issue which I am pinning squarely on the treatment starting for my recent dx.

Essentially, I've always been a terrible eater - and am not exactly slim as a result (luckily I'm quite rugby-ish build so have carried it fairly well) but have held a fairly constant size. I was diagnosed at christmas and started meds in January. My appetite has been high and my intake of rubbish food has been as constant as before but I seem to be ballooning outwards!

My non-medical, non-scientific theory, is that prior to diagnosis my body was waging a war against the virus (and losing) and this upped my metabolism to a point where eating junk food didn't seem to make much difference. Now I'm stable on meds, and the body doesn't have to be in constant battle with the virus things have moved to nearer normal and unfortunately that means the calories I'm consuming are going straight to my waistline.

Of course, now I wish I'd gone on a diet pre meds as I would have probably had no problem losing weight :)

So I am currently re-thinking my entire diet and exercise regime (ie. will have one). Only problem for me is...I really genuinely dislike a lot of the food people classify as 'healthy'. I hate salad, apart from fruit salad. I love meat. I like savoury stuff and spicy stuff. I just don't get a kick from the idea of eating a bowl of leaves with some tofu.

So this will probably be the hardest step so far in dealing with all this!

Cavey, believe me I am not a salad type person, but when you get older and have lived with HIV for years and end up in the hospital, you kinda change your whole perception.  So, that's why I changed my diet.  Ending up  nearly dying and "detoxing" off a lot of bad food while in the hospital changed me.  Not that everyone should do this.

When I eat veggies, I put the dressing in a separate "bowl" and dip the veggies in every bite. And believe me, I am not a veggie lover.  But when they tell a person that they're dying, it's a whole different ballgame.

Whatever you do, try to be a "little bit" healthy.  If little things can creep in, big things in your health can happen.  Good luck!

You're allowed to fail sometimes even on the best diets and best intents.  Realized after looking at my 2nd glass of zin empty.  :)

I do eat very healthy foods for the most part. I have always been stocky build and have been able to carry my weight .
I'm not a fussy eater and love veggys , but tofu blaah ..I don't even like the sounds of it.  Now that it is spring I'm going to try and eat lighter and get away from comfort foods and walk more.
Problem as I said is I'm always hungry...we will see !

Wade, I'm always hungry also.  I don't know what it is, but this just started a couple weeks ago.  I was fine before then.  I believe some of it is the not smoking, though I do use a vape.  Maybe there's something in the air?

Betty , I don't know but me too !
I went to the store and bought all different kinds of yogurt and fruit .
Figured if I do this during the day for 2 weeks I would loose some weight.
That morning sitting here I ate some... exactly three hours later I was eating a ham and cheese sandwich...so much for my diet.
