Recently pregnant. Worried about previous relation
« on: March 25, 2012, 12:47:04 pm »
Hello. I would appreciate your input if you please. I had a falling out with hubby and had a brief encounter with a male stripper. I insisted on safe sex except for once . It was brief , about 5 minutes and he did not ejaculate in me. I developed vaginitis after this encounter and speaking to exes of his they got chlamydhia. My tests came back negative. So here is the rundown. End of August Beginning of September is when this happened. 10-11 weeks later got tested for pre-insemination blood test. This was nov 11th. Irregular blood cells , hep , chlam , syphilis , HIV. I then came across a website that stated vaginitis and burning skin was a symptom of HIV . The burning forearm lasting only a day , but that's when a google search had me worried. About HIV . My tests came back negative at the 10-11 weeks mark. My doc who treated me for vaginitis said I didn't need to test again. But this website states otherwise . Needless to say , I am now pregnant and worrying that the anxiety can hurt my baby. Can someone shed light on this for me ?

Your concern is understandable, but I do expect you to come out of this ok.

Let me just say that the average time to seroconversion is 22 days. All but the smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will do so within 4-6 weeks after an exposure. So your negative at 11 weeks is much more than a little reassuring.

Just for your peace of mind I suggest you get tested again at 13 weeks and collect what I expect will be another negative and conclusive result.
