Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Oral sex question

Hi,

Long story short -50 days ago i performed oral sex that lasted about 5 mins total (on - off) on a guy i dont know. No ejaculation but i know there was precum for sure. At that time i had a canker sore under my tongue which i thought healed already. I've suffered from diarrhea 5 days after encounter without fever that lasted about 3 days and i suffering from a similar problem but worse + fever right now (50 days after).

Ive read many times you say that oral sex is no risk / theoretically risk.
And one time you brought this research as evidence :oral transmission of hiv, reality or fiction? An update that was released on 2006.
The research says : "... The presence of aphthae ... May increase the risk of hiv transmission"

Im not trying to doubt you but to really understand if im worrying for no reason or not.
So my situation is no risk or i might be infected?
Im scared and dont know what to do - please help.

As far as I am concerned yes, you are worrying needlessly. Your saliva contains over a dozen enzymes and proteins which form a very effective natural barrier to the transmission of HIV.

If you have troubling symptoms that's something to discuss with your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV. And there is no need for HIV testing.
