Plz need some reassurance
« on: October 09, 2018, 12:31:48 am »
I work in a drug testing facility. With high number of IV drug users yesterday a client flung his hands around with pee on them and a little bit went in my eye the bottle of urine he provided as I can remember looked normal color did not look like there was blood in it but he is on parole can I catch HIV from this. Scared to have sex with wife if I could have any way caught it in this manner. Plz give me so facts or reassurance  and where do you get your info from doctors , reading about , do you have hiv etc ?

You had no risk whatsoever from the urine.

This has been explained to you as well in the other forum online. Now you seem to have some irrational fears surrounding this and, hence they advised you to seek professional help as in a therapist to help you learn to cope with your thoughts/fears.

We are volunteers living with HIV, we rely on the latest scientific peer reviewed science for our assessments. This also gets fed back into the poz pages on transmission risks if needed and great effort is put into ensuring the message is clear.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions. Consider starting PrEP as an addtional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

And what do you mean by scientific peer reviewed science ?i am just wondering and i am taking your advice on getting help and the fact I could not get it from the urine to the eye ?

Published peer reviewed works and biology.

Now you had no risk, urine does not contain HIV to start with. I'm not sure what outdated rubbish you read but urine absolutely categorically is not a fluid that transmits HIV.

Now to your concern even if someone had blood in there urine it woud not be viable quantity to infect you as it would be diluted and in a hostile environment.

Besides that, HIV transmission is always a biological event and HIV once exposed outside the confides of the human body is not a transmission risk. HIV has outer receptors that are damaged leaving it unable to infect you so it did not matter how much urine you got in you face it simply could no longer infect you, and it lacked quantity to infect as explained.

In short this simply did not meet the biological requirements for transmission, and you had no exposure from this event so no drama required and move on with your life.

Now you have had a risk assessment both here and in the other forum. Personally I think your issue is fear based on moral concerns about the person not facts about the virus.

Please don't post about this again, its excessive to start with in this day and age. Consider the topic closed and to echo the other forum seek professional support if you can't move on with your life

I just read what i wrote when i said" i just read you can possibly contracted it from urine in your eye and the fact I know he is a if drug user and has been to prison ups his chances of having hiv or at least hep c so my mind started to race and got nervous"I meant that's why I posted on here and on that site lol did not mean to confuse anyone but the message was clear the first response you gave. Thank you for everything and you you explained it in a way I got it thank you . And I really didnt mean to make other accounts I had one years back and could not get it to email associated with it and could not remember password then tried to make new one and kept messing up. But I will not post on this subject and don't see my self needing to post on actual risk since I'm married and not concerned with stuff I was in past. And will take your advice and seek help so I don't have future fears. Thank you so much Jim
