Exessive swetting ?

And now I'm also sweating during the day I will have massive sweat patches on my arm pits I have never sweated this much in my life

Hi and welcome to the group.

I was having a lot of sweating issues before I was Dx'd and started on Rx's.  My sweating issues were only when I went to bed at night.  And when I say sweating my bed, sheets and clothes were soaked like I took a shower with my clothes on.  This was just back in May.

I haven't had a sweating issue since I was Dx'd and been adherent to my medications.  Have you started antivirals yet?  Also, have you talked to your doctor about it?  It is very possible it is related to something else.

Yes I have been on anti virals Trimeuq for just over 2 months now and viral load went from 578,000 to 100 and my CD4 count on diagnosis was 600(9%)

Some years back I had night sweats for sometime where my entire bed sheet would be soaked and you could see the mark from where I lay that was 7 years ago could I have had HIV back then and not known they did a test and they say the test indicates it was picked up within the last 6 months from my diagnosis date

I spoke to one of the people at the HIV Service in my local area and they said it's a side effect of the medication and will get better in time but it has not it comes and goes and the day sweats are everyday

I also have Syphilis that they could not treat yet since past 5 months and they believe I had it for over a year they could not treat it as I was violently throwing up the anti biotics and being sick a lot before starting treatment

Before taking the treatment I was urinating blood/protein for about 2 months and my liver and kidneys was functioning really poorly and now all them levels have returned to normal

And I have had terrible leg/foot pain that was severe for about 2 months I could not even walk far and that has gone away but comes back every now and again it was really bad

I'm glad that your liver and kidneys are back to normal now but not fun with the Syphilis.  My ID doctor is still trying to figure that out with me.  One test came back reactive and another wasn't so doing another test next month to see what is going on with it.  I know I've been exposed to it but he doesn't think I have it.  Like you, I also have some liver issues but they still aren't comfortable with my lab results on that yet.

One thing that I have learned since being Dx'd is that not everything is caused by the virus we have.  I too was thinking everything was related to it but like everyone else things happen.

It could be a side effect of your Trimeuq, could be something related to the syphilis but all I can think is if it continues call your doctor and see what they say. early next week.  To me it doesn't seem good to be sweating every night and day as it could potentially dehydrate you and that could cause other issues.

I'm sure others may know something else but don't worry about asking your doctor questions.  That's what they are their for.

Thank you for the input

with my CD4% being 9% and CD4 Count being 600 could that mean I have had the infection for much longer then I thought

Hi,

That one I have no idea about.  My CD4 was 2 and VL was 169,969 when I was Dx'd and they are thinking I've had it for a good 6 years but at that point I got blood work done for HIV and I was negative, another test two years later and again negative and then this.  Found out after I was dx'd with PCP, sweating, weight drop and liver issues.

Sometimes you can't really figure out when you got it but for me it would of had to be within the last 4 years.  My doctors and health department in my area told me not to dwell on when I got it.  Just isn't worth the headache.   And I actually agree with them.

Your CD4 count seems well but your % still has room to improve.  Another thing I've learned is your VL drops quickly after starting ARTS but your CD4 & % goes up slower but just takes time.  Pay more attention to your %.

There really isn't a way or test to tell when you became infected, I am sorry to hear about the profuse sweating BTW. Could well be one of the classic syphilis infection signs, but not a common Triumeq side effect at all.

Anyhow hopefully within a few more months to settle in, the VL well suppressed and you can tackle the syphilis again, you will get back to dry normality. Did the doctor come back on a plan for the syphilis?

Take it easy.

The HIV Doctor from Manchester University said that they will look at treatment in 3 months after starting anti retroviral treatment and now it's been just over 2 months once I finish my third bottle of Trimeuq that is close to my next appointment on the 27th of this month.

On my record it shows a penicilin reaction in the past so they did not want to give me the Injections and have been waiting for confirmation from my GP since but have not got any response.

As now I have not thrown up since the day I started treatment I can take the Doxyciline again or maybe opt for the Injections if they think it's safe to do so

My weight was also bad upon diagnosis I weighed 69kg and now I'm up to 82kg in 2 months of treatment I could loose 10kg every month if I did not sustain a 2000 calorie a day diet and it was hard keeping the food down was on fortisip drinks for 2 months also

ojo     hello there, welcome to the forum,

you sweating might be because your body is fighting two infections, and right now, there is a big battle between your soldiers (cd4), it's alllies (your med), against the invaders (hiv), so just give it some time, try to drink more water, and if it dose not get better, check with your doctor...your cd4, to me, looks lweird, compared with your %, althogh,, you should be concerned in getting your viral load to UD, the other numbers, will improved with time...noy experience with syphilis, tho, i wish you the best...hugs

Well, I am no doctor here, but I did experience the night sweats AND after diagnosis and start treatment I would get extremely hot (to the point that the air conditioner in the office will be set at 55-60 degrees sometimes and I was still hot!) if I talked for a long time (like at a party or a dissertation at work) I could feel the temperature raise and my underarms will get very moist. I did talk to my doctor and she explained that as the immune system begins to recover it starts a fight with whatever HIV is still present. It will get better, she said...and it did!  ;) ;)
We are all dealing with this. And we will live long and productive lives!! AND, yes the Lord is my shepherd

Thank you for all the responses everyone

Before my diagnosis I was pretty healthy never got ill apart from frequent chest infections when I was younger and have never have ended up in Hospital

I tried to rule out many illness the sweating could be caused by but it seems that it's a unknown cause and I think you are right

Yeah, look by the sound of it I live with far worse pain that in my legs but its not from HIV though.

You should talk to your doctor about this to find a cause and treatment, also taking that amount of codeine daily for 2 months is a serious concern and not sustainable.

It seems you have a number of underlining issues or problems, has the GP not come back or discussed treatment and finding the cause or any of this?

The doctors don't do anything I had to beg them for pain killers the pain stopped without the HIV Meds but ended up coming back but was mild compared to how severe it was and the medication has stopped that just have odd pain and it seems to come back where it's more then mild but nowhere as bad and the pain lasts for a few days and goes away where it's just the odd pain here and there

at times I could not even walk i would get up and there would be a massive pain in the bottom of my feet could not even sleep with a quilt or have any pressure on my feet had to put a dressing gown over me to stay walm

Most of the pain I had felt like it was in the bones its hard to explain

And when I went for my HIV Test 2 of the tip of my fingers filled up with a light yellow pus that went away with anti biotics but burst and I had a runny nose where it would turn hard and really hurt the inside of my nose remember going doctor and showing them all my problems at the time and they was like we can treat this and that but they did not know it was HIV you know as doctors don't they just think it's something else ?

Hi

Citar
as doctors don't they just think it's something else ?

Runny noses and yellow pus from your finger is not from HIV but whatever the cause they still need to treat it. They gave you antibiotics for the infection and it cleared up, well look infections happen and so do colds with or without HIV.

To be crude if your GP is simply not interested or looking into treating your syphilis, managing the symptoms and/or checking with you regarding any unrelated or underling issues causing the pain problem you have and treating them, well then you need to find yourself a new GP.

I do know that taking that much codeine for that amount of time is not healthy, I'm surprised a doctor would be giving someone that amount as codeine usage like that is problematic.

I wish you well but you really need to work with your doctor or find one that will work with you to sort out the health issues you have.

They will treat the Syphilis it's just was too unwell at the time for any treatment options but now I'm back to Full Health

Regarding my doctor cannot change GP as I'm on the NHS Violent Patient Register as I moved in with a Family Member who moved my medication at the time Eplim and Mirtazepene for depression / mood control and I kicked off threatened them so they class me as a violent patient as they kept telling me if you loose your medication again we won't give you anymore yet I was not the one who lost it in the first place and had never misplaced it in 2 years of taking it
