Fuzeon will cause redness and swelling at the injection site.  They usually last about 5 - 7 days and mine were never that painful.

After being on it for awhile it gets harder and harder to find inject sites (if you have someone to help you then you can also use the back of your upper arm).

I was happy to get off of it once my numbers were under control but it does work very well.  (At least it did for me)

You can send me a PM if you have any questions ... I'll answer what I can.

Good luck,
AA

I was happy to get off of it after 2 yrs. I hated sticking myself twice a day, it took about 3 months for my injection sites to heal, as all I had was my belly (the only palce I had FAT to inject into).......it worked very well, but didn't last but 2 yrs. before it didn't do anything anymore for me.........have any more questions about the FUZEON 90mg, just ask away, I'm sure a lott of us here has been on it before........Good Luck  ;D

there are other options available now  than fuzeon, even if drug resistance is a problem for you. prezista, isentress etc. Do talk to your dr about these. if it's just a case of needing something to replace viread, there are other nrti's to choose from.

fuzeon is more hassle than it's worth if you got other choices, trust me.

Kate, panda lives in Israel so I don't know how approval goes for the newest meds.  I'd definitely think Prezista is approved, not sure about Selzentry, Isentress or Intelence but Panda should ask about those four anyway.

Panda, everyone who has been on Fuzeon will kinda sorta dump on it, just because we all got sick of the injection routine.  I try to take a balanced approach and say that injections do suck, but they are dealable for a while -- and you have to look at the trade off in that Fuzeon is a really, really good HIV med in terms of lab number results.  Also, because it does not enter the GI tract it will alleviate problems a patient may have in that respect.

Panda, you also should provide the board more information about your resistance profile so that someone can weigh in on if you're really at the point to go on Fuzeon.  I do agree with Kate that if it's not necessary it's best to reserve the Fuzeon choice for a time in treatment when you actually need it.

Thank you all so much - the thing is , my dr told me if I was not trying to get pregnent well there are much more options for me, he said there are new drugs at the market that I dont have resistance and I can take but they are not approved during pregnanacy and I had to sign a papaer in wich I obligate not getting pregnent while taking these drugs, since tmy kidny's function are not too good I must take off the viread although It surpprising cause it has jumped all of the sudden.. and suddenly i got high creatinine and suddenly they found protein (620mg) in the 24 hours collection of urea,,, so I got pretty panic. There is a nother option , I dont remember the name of the drug but its frm the family of the viamune, I took it 3 years ago and got THE steven johnson.. thank got  i am a live (do u know what is it??)so my dr. said he has to check if this mdrug can also develop a st. johnson , he needs to come back to me, if it doesn't develop then I will be able to take it and not the injections and then it eill be all right I just wanted to prepare myself the worst,
Also , the injections is for a limited period only after the pregnancy but still I can not imagine my self taking this drug ... god ! what a night mare  :-\
