I am newish to Portland. I have no friends in the state who have HIV. Is there anything that is about people getting together for any activities or friendships.
I am wondering if there are other women who are HIV positive like myself.

I've never been to Portland but here's some of what google came up with

http://www.cascadeaids.org/social-support/

http://www.hivequal.org/hiv-equal-online/women-of-wisdom-a-support-group-for-hiv-positive-women

http://www.positive-support.org/

I'm sure there's more stuff, I'm sure you'll find someone to refer you to any other groups.

Hello Delilah,...

Check within the office/ waiting room of your ID doctor.  Many times in the waiting rooms you will find support info, for those of us that are HIV positive. My doctor's office, had plenty of fliers for HIV support groups and meetings/ activities. From here, you can expand, you find find more about activities.

Also, Check with you local ASO.  Many times as well, they will also have information for you, as to support groups. This info is usually provided in the waiting room area.

At your local ASO/ Ryan White / ADAP, you are bound to get some good leads, and telephone numbers of support groups.

If you are enrolled in Ryan White / ADAP,  you know that you will have to re-certify every 6 months, so once again talk to your case manager.

Even if you are not enrolled in Ryan White or ADAP, the info is available for you.  Look for the material ,  if you don't see anything,  don't hesitate to ask, at your Doctors office, or at your ASO.

That is probably the one of the best option.  There is another organization called Pivot Portland.

http://pivotpdx.org

Mostly, they deal with testing for HIV and other STI's but they have their pulse on everything going on in PDX. I am certain if you called them during their hours, they would be more than accommodating to check their resources and point you in the right direction.
