Gary Johnson
« on: September 23, 2012, 09:24:13 am »
I am as discouraged in this election as I was in 2008. I personally do not feel that either Romney, nor Obama are qualified to be President. I was so dismayed in 2008 that I did not cast a vote for President. I have people saying that I have to vote for one to keep the other out of office. In my mind, it just seems wrong to vote
"against" a candidate.  I want someone I can vote for. So I have been looking at Gary Johnson...thoughts???

Me? I'm happy voting for Obama again. I think he has done a shit ton of good.

Unfortunately, any vote that isn't for the democrats, is a win for the republitards, even if you are not voting directly for them.

Obama might not be very good, but hell, it's better than that asshole of Romney. Anyone who has HIV and/or is gay should know it by now.

I sincerely think President Obama has done an awesome job as president . I voted for in the primary in 2008 and in my opinion he has done what I sent him there to do . I wanted a single payer health care system but expected a compromise and that's what happened .

Since its a case of met expectations for me , I couldn't be happier .

Gary Johnson seems like a straightforward Libertarian and I don't agree with him on many issues. We don't share the same philosophy on government.

My experience with people who are "libertarian" is that most don't understand what that actually means.  You realize as an HIV positive person the Libertarian view is to let you die?  You caused this yourself and you are soley responsible to care for it.

I'm on the fence. Each candidate has alot for me to hate.

I like Gary's stance on Drugs and seeing it as a health issue and not a criminal issue and wanting to pull the money for enforcement and shifting it to treatment and loosening the drug laws.

Ii like his condemnation of "Marriage vow" pledge since it condemns gays and singles.

I Love his Foreign Policy stance of  cutting alot if not most of foreign Aid and funneling it back to US social issues.

I do not like his stance on repealing Bush Medicare RX plan, and Obamacare (without suitable replacements)

What kind of candidate would make you happy?  Obama not qualified to be president??  WTH?  People may disagree with his views, style, politics, etc, but he has definitely proved that he is qualified.  I don't think I even need to make a list.  And, he's not only proved he's qualified, but will be viewed as one of our best presidents--barring some huge fuck up in his 2nd term.

What has Obama done or not done that makes him unqualified for the job?  Because, that statement is totally different from not being happy with his policies.  Besides good social and economic policies, the main job of the president is to be Commander-in-Chief.  That nuclear football goes with him everywhere.  The president can wage war at any time.  He or she only needs to go to Congress within 60 days for approval to go further.  I think I have that right.  But, presidents have even gotten around that rule.

When I vote, I mainly vote based on social and economic reasons.  But, Commander-in-Chief is next on the list.  Hell, it should be at the top of the list.  We've seen what two unfunded wars can do to the economy.  And, more importantly, the lives lost.

If you would agree he is qualified, what policies do you want him to advance?  Or, what policies do you disagree with?  What policies do you like about Gary Johnson?  What would make him qualified to be president?  Please don't take this the wrong way.  You can certainly disagree with President Obama's policies.  It was the unqualified part that lost me.
