Saliva coming in contact with cut
« on: October 21, 2017, 04:05:55 pm »
Hi! And thanks to everyone on here for your amazing work I've been reading a lot of the forums and people on here seem great at responding to hiv related topics.

My concern is that yesterday I had my fist gay sexual encounter, there was no sex involved or oral sex.

However the man I met with might of have been quite high risk since we met online and he posts several ads weekly about meeting with men.

The exposure I'm afraid of is that he gave me a handjob, but he licked his thumb twice and rubbed it on the head of my penis, one day earlier before this I had shaved my pubic area slightly and nicked myself in two locations, one at the base and one slightly higher up. They were not bleeding or open from what I could tell, he also licked his finger once and rubbed it on my anus, I tend to get fissures often so I'm concerned that his saliva if he was hiv + and let's say had a trace of blood in it could that then infect me if I did Infact have a fissure and same thing for the 1 day old shave nick?
I'm not sure if this matter but I also touched his penis for a little then used the same hand to touch my own I did not see any pre cum however I can't be 100%.

I'm sorry if this is a silly question I am just very concerned and the internet has given me many different answers. I searched medhelp and had some slight relief however other doctors seem to say there was a risk.
I'm also uncircumcised if that matters.

Thank you so much for any answer on wether not I need to worry or test.

You had no risk whatsoever - none.

Firstly your cut made no route for infection, as any HIV it could have come into contact with was not infectouise anymore. HIV is transmitted sexually inside the human body as in never leaving the confides. This is because HIV once hiv finds itself exposed outside the body, small changes in temperature, pH / moisture levels it damages the receptors needed to infect human cells rendering it unable to infect.

Also nobody has ever been infected in the way you are concerned, that makes perfect sense since its biologically not a risk  - End of story.

On top of all that BTW saliva does not contain infectious HIV, quite the opposite saliva is hostile to HIV.

Relax, move on with your life. Stop with the random "what if's" focus on what is instead and stop reading crap on the internet.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Thank you Jim for the reply and answer you have eased my mind quite a bit.

However one last follow up question, I don't mean to be a hassle.

Let's just say he was indeed hiv + and his saliva did come in contact with a fissure or shave bump it still wouldn't raise the chance of being infected?  and worst case scenario he had slight blood in his mouth. I doubt that he did but I'm
Assuming the worst.

Thanks again

Asked and answered.

I read your first post you already included that detail and we always presume BTW the person is living with HIV in risk assessments.

Its makes no difference, it simply was not a viable risk or an exposure of any sorts.
