MadDog: Peripheral Neuropathy? Info
« on: September 16, 2018, 11:28:24 pm »
I'm very curious of real stories on this one.  Chance for neuropathy and or HIV related dementia is why I now have to see a neurologist every year (industry requirement due to HIV diagnoses).  I was to understand it was rare in the newer drugs.  It's been a major concern of mine to figure out what the odds are.
Do you know which caused the PN? The meds or the HIV?  I don't mean to be insensitive I'm just scared as hell that it's where I'm heading.

Hiya,

I split your post as the OP in the other thread has not been diagnosed with PN and is posting his own concerns/fears.  You can also search the forum and read peoples threads on this.

HIV itself left untreated has also been shown to cause nerve damage & earlier HIV meds that you are not taking contributed to the condition, newer HIV meds have not shown this risk.

Keeping in mind there are far more common causes of neuropathy that effect both the HIV positive & negative population.
