Title: Quick ?? On Blood Tests
Post by: HopeandCope on October 10, 2008, 10:21:18 am
Is it normal for blood tests for viral loads etc to take more than 2 weeks to return results?  My Son has been waiting a while for his new numbers.

I usually get mine back (by regular mail) in about a week.  But they are drawn at a Labcorp facility and Labcorp has a lot of processing labs very near by (within 25 miles).  The results include VL, CD4, blood counts, cholesterol, ...

Does he get them direct, or do they only go to his doctor?  It took a while before I realized I could make Labcorp send me a copy direct. (One needs to be a bit of a pain sometimes. :))

Also I think geno/pheno typing takes longer ?

They said they would call him in when they returned with the results.  He is in Alaska so I  am assuming that the tests go to the lower 48 .

Hello,

It ususally takes about a week and a half to get mine, but in some cases it has been over two weeks before I have received my results.
