You were not at risk of contracting HIV. STDs however is a possible risk.

No you don't need to be tested for HIV because you received a hummer. Not even for 200 hummers.

Please take the time to read our Welcome Thread to learn more about how HIV is and is not transmitted.

We're all in agreement on the absolute non-risk for HIV transmission from getting a blowjob or two hundred of them.

However, other STDs are easier to acquire. So we do advise that anyone who is sexually active ought to regularly have a complete STD panel done. That means at least once a year.

As far as HIV is concerned you're good to go for # 201.

With all due respect Andy, but I think this is a greatly outdated and misleading statement.

The remainder of this post has been deleted by Ann. Not only was Phill's post in this thread not permitted according to our rules, but it also contained old and outdated information from the 80's and 90's.

First of all, you were, (as we understood it), initally talking about receiving something like 200 blowjobs. There has never been a single confirmed case of transmission to a guy in that manner. It's safe to say you won't make history by becoming the first.

Your references are way outdated as far as the issue of giving oral. Longterm ongoing studies of sero-discordant couples, (both gay and straight), who has lots of mutual unprotected oral and only protected vaginal and anal intercourse have resulted in not a single sero-negative partner having become infected. Additionally, time and again when carefully examined claims of infection through giving oral rarely hold up.

Is there risk theoretically? Sure. But unless someone has a fresh and gaping wound in their mouth or severely poor oral health transmission just doesn't happen that way. Saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which very effectively prevent the transmission of viable HIV.

You don't have to believe us and we're certainly not here to get into a debate with you about this issue. Giving oral sex is one of the most common sexual acts. We would have known long before today if it was a serious risk for HIV transmission.

Phill,

If you read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote

Only those Moderators and members who are authorized to answer questions in the Am I Infected? forum are permitted do so. Unauthorized responses may be deleted without permission of the poster. Repeatedly posting replies of this nature may result in a Time Out or permanent ban, at the discretion of the Moderator Team.

Please consider yourself warned!

As Andy pointed out, those studies are old and outdated. They were based on patient report and patient report is notoriously unreliable because sometimes people will not admit to stigmatized behaviours like having anal intercourse.

I have deleted your outdated prattle. Post in any thread other than your own again and you WILL be permanently banned.

Not being circumcised becomes a risk issue during unprotected intercourse. It is NOT an issue in relation to getting oral sex.

Garmin,

Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

This is why getting a blowjob is NOT a risk for hiv infection, no matter what sort of spin you can think of to put on it.

In anticipation of your next question, unless you are in the habit of repeatedly punching a person in the mouth before they blow you, there could not possibly have been enough blood in his mouth to cause any concern.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

garmin,

Saliva contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infected. You're not going to end up positive after having a dick in your mouth for less than a minute.

There's a ton of chest infections making the rounds right now in the UK. I've got one myself (in the Isle of Man - but was in Liverpool on Tuesday and it's the same story there) and it's nothing to do with hiv. Neither is yours.

Only if you had unprotected intercourse with someone when you had an active episode of herpes going on would it have put you at higher risk for HIV.

In this case your getting a blowjob from him would not have put you at risk for HIV. As you have been told repeatedly before, receiving oral is not a risk for HIV no matter what spin you put on the details.

As you have regarding herpes, other STDs are much easier to acquire. That's why we advise anyone who is sexually active to at least annually have a full STD panel done.
