Why Facebook Just Spent $19 Billion on a Messaging App (http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/02/why-facebook-just-spent-19-billion-on-a-messaging-app/283959/)

In the clip Im the old guy (McCain) who wants the cutie poo new, wired, kumbaya generation off my lawn cause i don't understand any of it.
Meaning there comes a moment when a 53 employee service company is worth 19 billion dollars and the great symbol of the industrial age goes through its slow death rattle.
And further that's right - Facebook is worried about a 53 employee texting company cause Whatsapp is huge and nobody noticed.
Feeling my age.

Ah. That's the app my daughter wants me and her father to get, but we'd both have to buy smartphones first and neither one of us wants to do that. I have a really basic mobile and I'm happy with it - I rarely use it as it is and I can't see spending a load of my limited income on something I'll use once or twice a week. As for accessing the internet while out and about - I get fed up with the internet at home, why would I want to go online while I'm out shopping or in the pub? I get out of the house to escape the forums internet and it's a good excuse to not be online.
Anyway....
Most of the mobile phone service providers in the UK recently decided to start treating the IoM as an overseas country and charging overseas tariffs for texts and calls. It sucks and no one is sure how they're getting away with it. That's why The Child wants us to go all high tech and download this app. :-\

You're really showing your age lately

Ann your doin great. Carry on in the 20th century. you'll gradually give in.
But if I had 19billion the first thing I'd buy is an app that's free to the public.
The dik's a loser.
Did u hear he bought all his neighbours houses and rents them back to them.
Apparently someone bought a house nearby, was remodeling it and selling for millions more just cause Facebook dik lived in neighborhood.

Don't be too envious of the deal. I hear they're getting paid in FB stock which is way overvalued. Even Mark Z. thinks so. He recently unloaded a chunk of his.
