Bite Us Joe
« on: August 09, 2006, 08:42:13 pm »
As an avid student of US politics, I've been following the fortunes of Democratic Senator for Connecticut, Joseph Isadore Lieberman. Lieberman has represented the good Yankees of The Nutmeg State since 1988.

You know Joe, he played Chaim the Crusader to Al Gore's lecturn thumping Baptist in the 2000 Presidential election debacle. Balance is everything, I guess.

My research indicates Connecticut is considered a "deep blue" and ultra-liberal democrat state and that Lieberman (a noted foreign policy "hawk") has lost a Democratic Party nomination to one Nick Lamont, wealth poltical novice and anti-Iraq war playboy.

It interests me that Connecticut would be consider such a haven of dangerous left wing values. I measure the red-neckedness of American states by a single standard.

The death penalty, that uniquely American method of dealing with the poor, the retarded, Texans and people of colour.

Turns out that Connecticut is a death penalty state. Eight scumbags currently languish on the Row of Ultimate Justice and since 1976 one unfortunate has been put to death there. Why is this interesting? Well further research tells me that the following are just some states which have no death penalty statute:

West Virginia
North Dakota
Wisconsin
Minnesota

Who woulda thunk it?

And aside from capital punishment, the fact that Connecticut would return such a right wing Senator as Joe also causes me to doubt that Connecticut is one of the most liberal states in the Union. He's uniformly pro-life, anti-porn and violence in the media.

Anyhoo, turns out that Lieberman received a severe spanking at the hands of Connecticut Democrats. Lamont did the "observant but not orthodox" Jewish Senator 52% to 48%. Not bad.

Not even an honour roll of the Democratic Illuminati was able to save Joe. Both Clintons and every senior Dem in the state endorsed the short one.

To no avail.

Perhaps it was the loving kiss he received from Dubya at this years State of the Union address that saw Joe booted. Perhaps the voters of Connecticut realised that Joe was in fact a Jew and, at heart, a Republican. I'm betting that whilst Lieberman could get elected as a Senator from the North East, he still couldn't get into a country club.

To be quite honest, it came as no surprise to me !! It was a bigger surprise for Lieberman.

I never liked the guy. I don't like the way he speaks ( like he's talking to 10 year olds) and I don't like the fact that he's been sleeping with repuglicans ! There has been a powerful message sent !

He talks out both sides of his mouth. You can't have it both ways JOE !!

And let his true colors shine as he continues to run - potentially messing up the representation of one of the strong hold blue states.  This opportunist makes me livid!

yeah, he's a poor loser who doesn't want to believe he's second best.

Also, the public trough has been good to him.  He's in it for the money.  But he'll come back as one of those greedy lobbiest.  No imagination whatsoever.

It's true Poo, it's true...the times they are a changin'. America has had it...and as I said before, I am cautiously optimistic we will take our country back from these devils.
