Switching meds
« on: July 26, 2023, 06:04:12 am »
Hello people,

I have a small question in regarsa to the ARV Treatment. I am on Genvoya currently, since 2018, CD4 fluctuating between 400 and 800, cd4/cd8 ratio stable upwards, and undetectable since.
A friend of mine has changed pills and has about 4 months left of Triumeq.
Do you think that its ok to switch to it for 2-3 months, then go back to Genvoya? I was thinking of doing this to have a back up of my Genvoya for more months.

Thank you.

You would need screening for hypersensitivity, HLA-B ✶5701, as the Triumeq combination contains ABC.

Also, there are other issues to consider; for example, Triumeq contains DTG, and that's not everyone's cup of tea. It has been known to worsen any pre-existing problems, such as depression. Genvoya contains TDF; switching off that to Triumeq means dropping weight gain. Prevention TDF seems to offer, according to some studies.

Long story short, I think it's a bad idea to be switching unless necessary and for only three months  but it's your show and up-to-you. Talk to your healthcare provider
