This is not an HIV concern. There were no risks involved.

trust me, if anyone disagrees with a risk assessment, and has the science to back it up, we will not remain silent.

I second rapidrod's assessment.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

I just want to concur with what Rod and Jonathan have said. You were not at risk in this incident for HIV transmission.

Implicit in a number of the details you have given is a lot of anxiety which has really nothing to do with anything grounded in HIV science. You mention the man's race, the fact that money was involved and that you are inexperienced with giving oral sex to a man. All of this and more implies to me that this concern is emotionally driven. If it continues then I would suggest that you see a therapist or other professional to sort out your feelings about it and perhaps about male to male sex in general.

As to your symptoms, there is absolutely nothing in what you are reporting which is suggestive of HIV infection. But then symptoms are never the way to evaluate your HIV status if there has been a really risky incident. Which this one was not. If you have any persistent symptoms you should discuss them with your doctor.

This is not and HIV situation and I don't see any need for testing.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

Scabies, Headlice etc are an external parasite and can live on ANYONE who comes in to contact with them like fleas on a dog.  It has nothing to do with HIV.

ulucky,

While you might have been at risk of other sexually transmitted infections, you weren't at risk for hiv infection in the situation you bring to us.

As for putting the condom on inside out, well, you try it. It's not an easy thing to accomplish - especially in a dark room. Forget about that particular whatif.

You did NOT have a risk of hiv infection.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

unlucky,

Believe what you want. You did not have a risk of hiv infection in what you bring to us and that is the truth.

Go ahead and test, collect your negative result and move on with your life.

...and if I can interrupt your orgy of self-pity for a moment.....  This is about guilt and shame and not HIV. The likelikhood of transmission through giving a blowjob is not impossible, but very, very remote. It's one of the commonest of sexual acts and there have been very few confirmed cases of transmission in that manner, and even among those few there is uncertainty as to how authentic they were.

Of course given your state of mind testing is the way to go so you can collect the inevitable negative result.

What is comes down to is that you sucked a guy and you're having such intense feelings about it that you've lost all sense of proportion. You need to take a good deep breath right now, no kidding. Do it! And then another! And do that whenever you find yourself getting all tensed up about this.

I don't know how old you are or what your family life is like. What I do know is that you acted on a sexual impulse which doesn't sound like a terrible thing to me. You need to cut yourself some slack about this.

As far as HIV is concerned I expect you to come out of this ok.

Cheers,
Andy Velez

Unlucky,

While there is a small risk associated with giving a blowjob, you used a condom and that removes the risk completely.

You didn't have a risk, not even a small one.

Well if you report him, that might be dangerous for you as well, because he can claim you paid for the act.

Unlucky,

This is not a syphilis forum, it is an hiv forum. You didn't have a risk for hiv infection and there's nothing more we can do for you here.
