Okay, Now It's Really Time
« on: January 17, 2017, 09:46:02 pm »
I posted some months ago that I might be going on meds, and now the time is upon me. My latest VL is 17,600-something. My doctor has a research group here in Austin and wants me to be in the study to trial Tivicay + 2 meds vs. Tivicay + 1 drug. I'm happy that I can be a research subject again, but this is a huge step. The goal has always been to be undetectable, and I haven't been there for years. I'm grateful that I can help. I also told my coworker that I might need to take a few days of to adjust to a new medication.  She said she needs to have a little procedure, so we're good. I haven't disclosed but she probably knows. I'm all over the place here.

It's not that huge a step. You're already being monitored, you'll continue to be monitored in the trial.

You'll be taking a couple of pills under a doctor's care, I'm sure you've taken pills under doctor's care before in your life.

Wishing you all the best with the trial, I could guess the study name but will refrain from doing so, perhaps when you are ready you can update us with the name of the study.

Keep us posted, all the best.

Good luck, although you won't really need it.

Tivicay (Dolutegravir)  is a great med, and as part of a trial you are a trailblazer too....

Wishing you all the best!

That's good that you're doing a clinical trial. You get meds for free,  medical care for free and you're contributing to medical science.  I saw that you were a LTNP for almost 20 years,  that's great! You'll probably do well on the meds.  Don't anticipate side effects. I think with the modern meds,  a lot of "side effects" are psychosomatic and its mostly in people's heads because they anticipate them so much.

Let's us know how it goes.

Good luck on this next chapter, I think you'll be fine.  Please post if your house looks pink in the afternoon sun, this could be a problem. ;)
I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.
