I am happy I made Dan smile again. Friendship is the key.
« on: January 13, 2007, 04:02:40 pm »
I post this in the "Living with" section for a reason.

Dan has been gone for almost a week now. I miss him around me.
I miss the bodywarmth we shared, the tender kisses, the look into a smiling face.
I miss his HIV body at night, that feels the same as mine. It comforts me.
I miss the feeling of being with someone who knows what pain and suffering is, but also strength, optimism and neverending struggle.

I feel as if I have made Dan a happy man, even if it has only been for 10 days.
Not so much love, but foremost friendship, understanding and respect has been the glue between us.
Knowing that a smile does more for our immune system then many a pill.

Dan's presence with me has made me realise that, even with death breathing in my neck, I sometimes forget to live the simple life I want to live.
I have had HIV for over 20 years. So has Dan.
How much longer do we have? Will death us part? How soon will it happen?
No, not a negative post here, but one to make all of us conscious of the value of friendship and love.

I am a "giver" and "caretaker" and therefore have a hard time "receiving".
When Dan told me he would work "his ass off" to invite me over and take me on an "all-paid trip", I cried.
Not only because it moved me, but most of all because he learned me to accept gifts instead of giving.

Thank you all for you friendship.
I hereby declare that I accept it.....and it feels wonderfull.....

I can so feel the need on here for someone to hold you, touch you, caress your body without prejudice...
Wished I could give and yes, "receive" much more of it. It is the breath of life.....

With love

Hermie

What a wonderful post!!!!
LIFE is not a race to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--WOW! WHAT A
RIDE!!!
