just tested positive and terrified
« on: August 09, 2013, 10:00:44 am »
I am a young guy that just found out I am positive 4weeks ago. I am soon scared and don't know what to expect. I have not told my mother because I know she would die but I have told my two sisters who has been supporting me a lot from a distance.
I still consider will I ever get married, have kids and go to college next year to get my RN degree. My first doc apt is Monday and I don't know what to expect and I am sooo scared of going there by myself not knowing what to expect. They are so much things going through my mind periodically throughout the day, how long do I have to live, does it makes sense to go back to college and will I ever feel like myself again. My sisters keep telling me everything is going to be OK but I would feel much better hearing from someone living with the virus. I am scared.

Hi Kevy . Welcome to the forums . I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this but relieved you have to wonderful sisters to support you .

Your sisters are correct , you are going to be OK . I was a young guy once too that learned I was poz , that was over 30 years ago and Im doing fantastic now .

I understand your apprehension about going to your doctor appointments but you need not be scared . They will draw blood and do some lab work and answer many of the questions you may have . You can also come here to the forum and ask or use the lessons section at the top of the forum . You can access the lessons by placing your cursor on the word treatment and you will get a drop down box to choose where you want to go .

I promise you it does get better .
