Traveling to Russia
« on: April 13, 2012, 09:42:08 pm »
Okay, I just found out I have to travel to Moscow on business.  Just for a week.  I have also heard that you cannot enter Russia if you are HIV positive.  I have also heard you can simply not declare your status and not disclose your antiretroviral meds when you enter.  Has anyone experienced this?  I haven't filled out the visa application yet, but I am wondering if it will ask me if I have a communicable disease.  Again, some say to lie.  I am healthy and undetectable, but this is really freaking me out.  Can anyone help/advise?

Okay, I just found out I have to travel to Moscow on business.  Just for a week.  I have also heard that you cannot enter Russia if you are HIV positive.

That would be incorrect. As long as you're staying there for less than three months you don't need to disclose your HIV status when you enter the country. See below.

Quote

- There are no restrictions or regulations concerning the entry of people with HIV/AIDS to Russia. There are no regulations targeting short term tourist stays.

- Non-Russian citizens staying in Russia for less than 3 months do not need to provide information about HIV status.

- All foreigners planning to travel or reside in the Russian Federation for longer than three months must provide a medical certificate of a negative test for infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

You can read more about travel restrictions to Russia and other countries here:

So, stress not and enjoy your trip  :)
