Biktarvy and elevated Creatinine

Hey everyone

So my last metabolic panel showed a Creatinine level of 1.34mg/dl.
My physician hinted that I might have mild CKD, however, before starting Biktarvy it was below 1mg/dl.
I was wondering if anyone else had this similar experience? The idea of kidney disease freaks me out.

(8 rounds of IV chemo total)
11 Lumbar punctures with intrathecal chemo
June 5, 2019 - Complete Response/Remission
Feb 20, 2020 - CD4 187, VL UD
Aug 2020 - CD4 247, VL UD
Stopped all prophylaxis
June 2021 - 2 years remission

Yes when I started Biktarv my levels went to 1.1 then down to 1.0. When on Atripla they were always below 1.0 and less.

Hi, I very much understand your concern but please note that this lab value is a single data point. Many factors can contribute to develop elevated creatinine, and in order to establish that there is any problem the first best step is to repeat the sampling. Always ensure you have plenty of fluids. If there develops a consistent trend and you and your doctor’s concern is it may be related to your medicine, there are other treatment options available you might consider. But from a single slightly abnormal lab value I would not draw the conclusion that you have CKD. Best Matt
