So some of you may be aware that I tested positive for Hep C in May. My doctors refuse to put me on the current treatment because they believe the new meds coming out the beginning of next year will be better for me. So far, no pain. I have noticed though when I eat fatty foods that I feel like complete crap afterwards. So I stopped and started eating more fresh veggies and fruits. So after changing my diet, I feel normal again. In fact, I feel GREAT! I go in for my 3-6 month check up on the 12th. I'm not sure what the numbers will look like. As long as my CD4 stays at a good number, I think I'll be fine mentally.

Posting here makes me feel good.

I'm not very versed in Hep C treatments, but I'm sure some good advice will be coming your way.  It just sounds strange to me to not start treatment with what is available.

Glad to see you back, unless you've been around and I just hadn't noticed.

d-boy, I keep getting conflicting reports from you!  The last one said you were going to take today's meds. So, just to be clear, you're obliged to wait??
Anyway, glad to hear about the improvements in feeling, with diet!!  It won't be long til the new meds arrive.. Hold on.

Well I wanted to move forward with taking the current meds but my Gastroenterologist and my ID refuse to treat me as they are certain that the new meds will come within the next year and I will benefit more from.

Sorry for the confusion.

I just do hope what everyone says that Hep C does progress much slowly than HIV.  I keep fearing that dealing with both of these disease that death is at my door for some reason.

Trust your doctors. As I already told you the same they are telling you. When i was diagnosed last Fall, my ID specialist (and professor) told me I would be cured with the new drugs, when they arrive.. 
You are not dying of Hep C,
and we all know we are not dying of HIV. 
Are you on HIV treatment?
Stay optimistic and cool.   ;D

With the pending availability of interferon-free HCV treatment, with fabulous reported success rates, it seems some specialists feel its best to wait for them if someone isn't critically afflicted with HCV at the moment.

Got blood work done. Everything looks good. Liver enzyme were elevated just a tad bit. Nothing too much. What is weird though, my CD4 count and my my CD% increased.

It went from 600 to 1074. My % increased from 22 to 29. STRANGE! Lol.
