Fingering and French Kissing
« on: June 18, 2014, 08:52:44 am »
Hi All
3 years ago I had a fling with an office friend. The first time we met, she mentioned she had been raped but tested negative. At that point in time I thought nothing of it and trusted that she was negative. That night we fooled around and I fingered her  for quite some time. There was quite a few of these fingering sessions all night long. Using the same hand that I had used for fingering I rubbed her breast and suck her nipples. I’m sure I must have had some vaginal fluids on my fingers when I rubbed her breast.  There was no sex (vaginal, anal or oral). At that time I thought nothing of it and carried on. Four weeks later we met up again and this time we engaged in some French kissing and some fingering as well. Before we met up I had just come the orthodontist and remember having my gums bleeding, as the orthodontist had hurt my gums adjusting the braces. That said, we French kissed but I cant remember if the bleeding had stopped.

Knowing that she was raped,  something triggered my mind and got all paranoid about HIV. I visited the local doctor, he gave me some meds not sure if it was PEP or something else and he did the Elisa 1&2 test the same day. This came back negative. He said to do a another test after 3 weeks. 3 weeks later I did the test. Negative as well.

Did I have a risk?
Should I get tested again?

You did not have a risk for HIV from fingering and kissing . No one has ever been infected from kissing or from fingering . HIV is sexually transmitted from unprotected anal and vaginal sex so as long as you use condoms for these two things correctly and consistently you will avoid HIV ... its really that simple . You did not have a risk and do not need to test again for this specific concern .

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you did not have a risk and do not need to test for this specific incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

You never had an exposure, you didn't need testing and nPEP wouldn't be given.
