Anyone on viramune long term? >5 years?
« on: April 27, 2017, 10:13:03 pm »
Hello

I just wanted to see if there is anyone that has been taking Viramune for a long term. I used to be on Viarmune for about 5 years and in 2015 I switched to TIVICAY. Since then I have noticed about 10-15 lb increase in weight. The reason for the switch was because I felt that on Viramune I was losing too much weight. Anyone has similar experiences with these two medications?

Thx

I've been on Viramune for 10+ years.  I never had any weight loss.  However, my weight is normally very consistent so I may not be a good barometer for your question.

There is a related thread(s) ongoing right now about Triumeq (Tivicay)and weight gain.  Sometimes certain side effects don't show up until the drug is introduced to a broader population for a longer period of time than what is seen in a clinical trial.

Or, it could be totally unrelated.

Has your doctor made any comment on this?

Just as a thought if you were loosing weight you switched and gained it back? Could this  be a healthy weight gain or perhaps that and slight ageing perhaps?  I'm not being funny its just I know i add weight easier as things are "slowing" so to speak.

That is true. But that loss of weight on Viramune was actually a good thing. I was just noticing it too much on my face. But yes you are right it could be the age thing too.

My dr. said Tivicay shouldn't cause bloating or weight gain issue and that if it did, they should pass but my weight was increasing continually since I started tivicay.
