Nervous about an encounter

(1/1)

springworry:
I engaged in receptive anal sex 2 days ago. My partner kept losing his erection when putting on condoms so I retrieved new ones for him until all i had left was a magnum, which was roomy on his penis, and that concerned me. However, I kept checking to make sure it was on, which it was. Because I was face down I couldn't see it, but I could feel it with my hand...

Most of the time he wasn't really inside me, though towards the end I could feel his head pushing into my anus (possibly a little further.)

When he announced he was going to cum, I guided him out of me, turned around, and watched him pull off the condom before ejaculating.

I was unnerved by the encounter, I suppose because I don't know this person and didn't really plan on having intercourse, and because he kept trying to persuade me to have unprotected sex, and also the mismatched condom size... In my anxiety, I considered pursuing PEP though I imagine that sounds bonkers, considering the circumstances.

I have been on PrEP in the past and had some issues so I went off of it; I am vigilant with condom use.  I've read these boards for years, but never posted. Thank you so much.

springworry:
PS there were a couple specs of blood from my anus on toilet paper in the bathroom preceding the sex
Still, no direct contact with his penis...

Jim Allen:
You mentioned previously using PrEP. Was it Truvada or Descovy, what kind of issues did you have and was it daily PrEP or event based dosing?

springworry:
Hello Jim.

From what I describe, does it sound like my encounter contained any risks?

Yes, was Truvada. I was on it for a few months (still used condoms) and during that time had some elevated liver enzymes that went back down after discontinuing. Not sure if it was related or not. The past few times I've tried event based dosing (...still using condoms) I've experienced significant nausea, dizziness and fatigue.

Jim Allen:
Hiya.

What you posted here isn't an HIV concern.

As for the PrEP, you could consider Descovy PrEP instead, this would offer you an additional layer of HIV prevention and some peace of mind going forward, talk to your healthcare provider about Descovy PrEP, and about getting vaccinated against HPV, Hepatitis A & B.

Here's what you need to know to reduce your HIV risks:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse correctly and consistently, with no exceptions. Consider talking to your healthcare provider about PrEP as an additional layer of protection against HIV

Keep in mind that some sexual practices described as safe in terms of acquiring HIV still pose a risk for other easier-acquired STIs. So please do get tested at least yearly for STIs, including but not limited to HIV, and more frequently if condomless intercourse occurs.

Also, note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms; testing is the only way to know.

Kind regards

Jim
