Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Hey everyone, after many sleepless nights and a lot of fears, I am finally here because I want a definite answer to my question(s). I am a gay guy and nearly 3 years ago I did something with another guy, without condoms: we layed on each other, eaculated and our genitals did come in contact with each other in that time, I am not sure if the period was short or longer. I am not circumsized.
There was no sexual intercourse - anal or oral. I do now that the only proven risks are unprotected vaginal and anal sex, but I've been sick since a week and I just wanted to hear "No, you were at no risk, you do not need HIV testing." So please tell me what you think. Thank you!

You certainly do not need to test over this.

Please read the lessons here on how HIV is and is not transmitted, if you are sexually active then you need to educate yourself and know how to be responsible for your own health.

Remember...Condoms at all times....NO EXCEPTIONS.

The only confirmed activities for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. That's it. As long as you consistently use condoms for those activities you will be well protected against HIV.

None of the other activities you are concerned about are risks for HIV.

Hey everyone, I am freaking out! I am a medical school student and today I did a blutgase analysis.

 Unfortunately, my finger (I was wearing protecting medical gloves) did come in contact with the lancet. I did NOT stab myself and my skin did NOT bleed. But I could kind of feel the sharpness of the lancet over my skin. I showed my finger immediately to three doctors and they said the could not see any wounds. There was definately no bleeding.

I've read a lot of information, and I do think there was NO risk. Am I right? (To be honest, the patient was above 70 years old and with NO HIV diagnosed, so I don't really expect him to be positive.) But you know, to be sure, I wanted to ask you for your opinion. Would HIV-PEP be needed?

By the way, I came in contact with the lancet a few seconds (maybe 10) after the I had used it on the patient.

HIV does not and cannot be transmitted by a Lancet.
